Childrens inheritance
My 3 children ( 11,17,and 17 ) have all just inherited £60000 each. How do I invest it. The twins are off to university next year so I am thinking of having £300 each readily accessible to pay for them through university and then invest 30 each. the 11 year old I need a longer term view but am risk averse.

Lloyds Regular Saver Withdrawal Question
We took out the 2-year Lloyds Regular Saver in February 2007, so it is due to mature this coming February. However I am considering transferring a substantial part of it to the BM fixed rate bond now, rather than having to take what might be available in February. I can't remember the T & Cs regarding withdrawals and can't…

Kent Reliance at 6% or Tesco at 6.5%
Hi all, I'm in two minds as to which of the above accounts to invest in. I have a sizable amount of money consisting of savings and my student loan and would like to put it away for a couple of years. Kent Reliance's 2 year fixed bond appeals to me as the interest rate is comparatively high, but the account is operated by…

Is this right?
Have been informed that if I wish to surrender in my with profits policy they are going to charged me £2,000 to do so! However, on their website it says that these charges take effect from the 21.10.08. We got in touch with them on 16.10.08 and told them that we wished to surrender our policy. No mention of this…

Britain to Lend Iceland Money!!
Yes really, that's what the BBC is saying on the news. I can't find it on their website but if I see any links I'll post them up. I think it was 2.2 billion we were going to lend them. I can't see this going down too well to be honest - I hope the BBC has it's facts wrong or there will be a huge public outcry. I am…

Sterling Financial-Lost 20k in a year
Hi everybody. I am posting this on behalf of my parents who are looking for a bit of advice. They have had a product with Sterling Financial for the past 4 years.... It had been going great, up until this year where it had lost over £20000, which is a third of the investment. On signing up to this product, it had been…

Premium Bonds - Beating the odds?
I've had 500 premium bonds for 4 years. Martin's caclulator suggests the following likely outcomes: Win £0................36.8% Win £50 or more....63.2% Almost twice as likely to win £50 or more than winning nothing but I beat the odds and won nothing. In the meantime I have, of course, missed out on the interest that I…

More than £50,000 advice needed
At the moment I am a non-tax payer so most of our savings are in my name only so I can claim gross interest, which means I have more than £50,000 in my name only. My husband and I both have cash ISAs with the Halifax currently at £25,000 each and we haven't used this years allowances. Yeterday I opened a Halifax Guaranteed…

Premium Bond Prizes Take a Nosedive
It was inevitable given the rapid fall in bank rate, but the news is about as welcome as a f*rt in a lift .... "The number of Premium Bond prizes is being reduced following the recent cut in the Bank rate to 3%. National Savings & Investments (NS&I) said the total Premium Bond prize payout would drop from £87.8m this month…

Savings Advice
Please would someone give me a bit of advice. Myself and my boyfriend are both self employed plumbers, last year we overpaid the mortgage by £3000. Due to the current down turn in our workload, we have taken the £3000 back from the mortgage company, as a safety net just in case work doesn't pick up in the next year. I…

Anglo Irish Bank stuck in peat bog?
I have been waiting over 6 weeks to open a Fixed Rate Bond. Repeated phone calls redirect me between departments in London and Leicestershire and nobody can tell me what.s going on. I suspect the trick is to pass the parcel long enough to miss the deadline for the 7.05% I was promised on application. Meanwhile, because…

Halifax ISA Share Saver
Hi all I currently have a Halifax ISA share saver, where the monthly contributions are being directed into their medium risk savings plan. ICICI's useless website
Trying to access my account, each page taking about 15 minutes to load. This bank really doesn't do itself any favours. n.b. not trying to start a panic or anything, just having a rant. Useless website = situation normal for ICICI.
