Most of the high street banks have offshore subsidiaries that offer credit cards. All credit cards charge you for withdrawals.
I think you require a debit card. Nationwide offer the best deal for international ATM transactions. Not sure if the have an offshore branch. You need to check. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
thanks !
NW IOM don't, and I haven't spotted any high street bank that do offer either debit or credit cards offshore - maybe I haven't been looking in the right place, but can you name one of them, especially if its a debit card :beer:0 -
Actually I have and that was 15 years ago and was unique. The card was issued in IOM or Guernsey, can't remember which, for expats and with it came an interest rate and a promise for life that it would be linked in some way to base rate.thanks !

The bank broke their promise after 5 years so I cancelled their snazzy multicoloured card with a globe on it and shut account deciding NEVER to use that bank again. [details in my loft if really required]

Unlike the NW Flex Account Debit Card, the offshore one has the usual foreign Currency & transaction fees that are applied by other banks - http://www.co-operativebank.co.uk/cfscombi/pdf/Pathfinder_Account_Charges.pdfpathfinder worldwide account - offers a debit card - I'll have a look and post back

HSBC International in Jersey offer debit cards in Sterling or US$. However, they are no where near as good VFM as the Nationwide debit card (certainly NOT 0%)
