Have been informed that if I wish to surrender in my with profits policy they are going to charged me £2,000 to do so! However, on their website it says that these charges take effect from the 21.10.08. We got in touch with them on 16.10.08 and told them that we wished to surrender our policy. No mention of this charge was mentioned to us then. They then sent us out all relivant documents that we then had to fill in and return to them. On the documents that they sent us, it had prepared for you on 22.10.08 but again there was no mention of this charge. They said that once they received the documents back the money would be paid into my bank account within 7 to 10 days. When I phoned them back to query why the money hadn't been paid into my account, that is when they told me of the charge. Does anyone know if they can apply this charge to me or not? Also, I'm finding it very hard to actually speak to anybody because the number you are surposed to ring has been convenientley out of order for 5 weeks and I have tried emailing them as well but that service as well is unavailable!!
Thanks in advance for any help

So many contradictions to do with the benefit system....my child is now 16 so isn't a child anymore, or so say tax credits...yet they can't vote coz, according to the government they're still a child!

Unfortunately, unless you can prove maladministration on their part, they can apply a reduction. I don't think the delay is unreasonable, although I fully understand your annoyance.
These are turbulent times and market conditions are changing daily.0
