Options
As the title says i am wondering if there are any decent short term fixed rates still available?

HBOS seem to be cornering the market.

    www.halifax.co.uk/savings 6.25% for 3 months
    www.bankofscotland.co.uk/savingsa 5.8% with access for a year
    www.askbm.com 5.7% for 6 months

I think fixed deals will be short lived - so move fast!

Quick question to anyone who has opened a halifax web saver account.

I have had to open the variable web saver first which i have just done. Can i fund this account immediately from my online barclays account? Or do i have to wait for my halifax temp password to come through the post, then do it from my online halifax?

I want to open up the above mentioned 3 month fixed web saver as soon as my password comes through.

From memory, I paid £1 into my variable rate websaver from my A&L current account before receiving the password, as I had all of the other account details - it just meant that I couldn't see the deposit until the password arrived.
  • manhattan - you can pay in the amount as soon as you have the account number - but be aware they wont let you open the fixed rate account until there is the correct amount in the web saver account (you also need to leave £1 in the web saver). So, for example, if you want to put £1000 in the fixed rate you need to make sure there is £1001 in the web saver when you apply for the new account

How long does it take for the money to hit halifax?

Payment from A&L took 3 days by BACS but transfers from my HSBC Current a/c have been a maximum of 2 hours by Faster Payments.
