I wonder is the R85 form appropriate for me in this case (are my…

AA interest rates - take care!
Following MSE's excellent article on savings, last month my wife and I opened accounts with ICICI and the AA and Icesave. The AA were very slow at all stages (only one to insist on posting ID - all the rest did things electronically) and it took around 3 weeks from applying to getting the account set up. This was the AA…

A&L DirectSaver underpaying interest?
Firstly, I know it is sad, but I have to admit that I have an excel spreadsheet of my savings which calculates the interest that is being earned. When A&L changed their rate on the DirectSaver account last August to 6.3% AER I worked out that this equated to 6.13% gross per month, and for that month my calculation of the…

Best Place To Buy £500/1000 ETF? Selftrade?
Hi All, I'm looking for the best way to buy either £500 or £1000 worth of an ETF (specifically FAIG - ETFS Forward All Commodities). Becuase of the low amount and the fact that I don't have any other investments, I don't think it needs to go in an ISA. Also because I might want to buy some funds soon, and will probably put…

Carpetbagging - is it worth it?
As someone who holds accounts with several building societies, which I've held since 1997, I would like to know if anyone here feels its worth keeping the £1000 or so I have in these accounts. After all, it could be earning interest elsewhere, and I've not heard of any building society windfalls for a very very long time…
