How do I check if a share certificate from 1963 is still valid?

New interest and condition on A&L DirectSaver and eSaver
Hi, Just spotted new interest rates on A&L DirectSaver down from 6.3% to 6% eSaver unchanged at 6.5% including 0.35% bonus to 31/01/09 BUT possible good news - new condition on both account:- Free withdrawals in July. No interest is earned on the account balance for any other month in which a withdrawal is made.

Premium Bonds - Winning a BIG prize
If you win a BIG prize - say the 1 million - how do you get paid? I would guess you need to send your bond in for verification, so if any BIG winners are reading this could they post a reply as to how a BIG prize gets piad. Alliance and Leicester Direct Saver Withdrawal Query
The above account states that "To encourage long term savings, no interest is earned for any month in which a withdrawal is made". Does anyone know if the month is from 1 - 31 of month or does the month start on the date the account was opened so for example month runs from say 15th - 14th of month?

Halifax Websaver maturing soon

Profiting from financial distress?
Where do peeps see opportunities for profit as a result of corporate and personal financial distress. We have the bond from London Scottish Bank which doesn't have enough capital to satisfy the regulator. What else? Is there money in pawnbrokers, debt collectors or funds to buy distressed BTL out at fire-sale prices?
