Premium Bonds - Winning a BIG prize

If you win a BIG prize - say the 1 million - how do you get paid?

I would guess you need to send your bond in for verification, so if any BIG winners are reading this could they post a reply as to how a BIG prize gets piad.

My biggest was £1000 and I just received it through the post like any smaller prize.

Cheers

Someone on this board won a 100k a few years back. They had to send off the winning bond to NS&I who then paid out by bank transfer. With the million prize, I guess they would verify the winning bond in person, then transfer the funds.

I'd expect a knock on the door if I won a million £s They'd have to verify that you're you and that you have the winning bond. Maybe this year??

unless you win one of the £1 million jackpots when our representative will visit you personally with the good news

..... but he / she doesn't carry cash. Met one of them several years ago, unfortunately after he'd finished that part of the job! And he had me in stitches, over lunch ... at the unexpected reaction from some of his customers. Pleasant job nonetheless.

Heres an article on the bbc website about 'Agent Million'!
It basically says there are two employees responsible for visiting the big winners.
    Good Luck!
