London train prices
I've been finding fares for a few London journeys I have to make, and there seems to be odd things going on with the prices. For example, if I get a ticket from Crouch Hill to Heathrow, it costs £6.00, but I have to go from Crouch Hill to Harringay Green Lanes, then walk to Harringay, then change onto the underground at…

OYSTER and TUBE/OVERGROUND mix
I wonder if any London public transport experts will know the answer to this... I have to get from an Overground station to a tube station and know that I start on the overground and have to change to an underground line mid-way through my journey. Does this count as ONE journey like it would if I were just changing…

Advance ticket not available in station?
I have a 1625rail card, when I look up at the fee of Battle(East Sussex Southeastern) to London Term, nationalrail website shows advance "Single from £6.65" with railcard, so I went to the station(Battle) to buy the ticket. The staff told me that the system of the station is different from the website, there are no advance…

Splitting return ticket into two journeys
I have a return ticket from X to Z and when looking for when I could use that ticket I saw that it needed me to change at Y with a 20 min wait between trains. Rather than take the suggested train I could I actually leave the station, come back a few hours later than take a later train to finally reach Z?

Beware of Last-Minute FastTicket Collections
Like many here I book my rail tickets online in advance and collect them from a FastTicket machine at the station, often immediately prior to travel. This week I happened to be passing the station and so popped in to collect the tickets for a trip next week... and lucky I did! You know what it's like... the machine spits…

ticket split southern smartcard
I got a Southern rail Smartcard as they were offering discounts on travel, but alas these have disappeared. Furthermore, after confirming with their head office, you cannot use them with ticket splits on a single train journey. At the split point, you MUST get off the train, exit via the barrier, then re-enter the…

Train Ticket Price - Can someone apply some logic to this?
Hi! I have an annual Gold Card season ticket that also covers me for travel within Zones 1-6. I want to travel to Reading from London Paddington on Friday afternoon (probably some time around 16.30) and return off peak on Monday. I understand that I will need to buy a ticket from the boundary of Zone 6 to Reading and…

Transport for London night tube now unlikely to launch until March 2016
I was searching online, trying to find out when the night tube in London will start, after the publicized September 2015 start date, came and went following Industrial action from London Underground staff over the summer. There is now a suggestion, the Night tube wont start until another five months away.…

Anyone Scoot to work?
Just wondering if it was a viable means of transport for a commute about 4.5 miles long. About to start a job with 'normal' hours, have done a 'trial run' and it took 35 minutes by car! (Usually about 10-15 mins non rush hours). Public transport would take about an hour! Cycling could be another option however I would like…

Cycling in Europe? Travelling via Eurostar?
News from the "You Couldn't Make It Up" department: Eurostar have decided that from next month, any bicycles taken aboard their trains must be dismantled, stored in a box that is paradoxically too small to accommodate a bike, and re-assembled at your destination. Fortunately they relented. They are now intending to provide…

Season ticket costs more than buying daily
I would appreciate your advice. I've been commuting by train on and off over the years, and up to now it has always been cheaper to purchase season tickets for the route. My current route has got me stumped. A return from Ash to Godalming is £6 peak weekday return, and £5.90 on weekends. I commute during peak hours 5 days…

Pannier Bag Help
I have a ETC rack on my bicycle and recently decided to make use of it and get a pannier bag. Sounds simple enough but the lower clip of the bag doesn't line up with anywhere suitable on the rack :( Perhaps I was being naive to expect these things to be universal fit! The rack:…

Hi all, Has anyone here bought an annual season ticket from Southeastern with a company cheque, and then sought a refund? I paid for mine with a company cheque and might be leaving in a few months so, if I were to get a refund, would they just give me it back as a cheque addressed to my company or would it be a bit…
