London train prices

I've been finding fares for a few London journeys I have to make, and there seems to be odd things going on with the prices.
For example, if I get a ticket from Crouch Hill to Heathrow, it costs £6.00, but I have to go from Crouch Hill to Harringay Green Lanes, then walk to Harringay, then change onto the underground at King's Cross for Heathrow.
But if I get on directly at Harringay (it's not much further away from me than Crouch Hill) thus cutting out about 25 minutes of travel, it costs £9.60!
Can I buy a ticket from Crouch Hill and then get on at Harringay, as I would have to walk there on the longer journey anyway?

Yes.
No restrictions on that ticket

And you are specifically allowed to break your journey on an anytime day single.

The cheaper fare is set by TfL/London Overground, the more expensive one by ATOC/National Rail
The suggested route on the TfL journey planner is to Upper Holloway and walk to Archway0
