Single gear bike - where/which model?
I'm thinking of getting a single gear bike. I know there are fixies that can run in single gear mode, but are they inferior to non-fixie single speed? Can anyone recommend me a decent supplier either online or offline? I'm looking to spend up to £300 to start with.

Help - bike snapped in half!
Hi folks, I was riding through central London on Tuesday when without warning my Carrera folding bike snapped in half! I was lucky that it happened just as I was about to pull away from a junction, if it had broken a minute earlier I had a bus on my inside and a lorry on my right! I tweeted to Halfords and they told me to…

Helmet noise
Since I started commuting regularly by bike, I have been wearing a helmet every time. Partly at my wife's insistence, and partly in recognition of the increased risk associated with regular, rather then occasional, riding in traffic. I have had cycle helmets before, but rarely wore them, and when I did it was mainly to be…

Tickety Split on National Express?
No one has ever raised the point that you can save money, by purchasing separate tickets with NATIONAL EXPRESS. The ethos is, that it is about the trains! It is not. I am travelling from Cornwall to Warwickshire shortly; the cost of a straight ticket was over £65.00. I purchased 3 tickets, catching the same coach…

Family trip to London on train
I have read the cheap train guide, but still unsure. 3 adults (two of which are over 60) and a 4 year old all going to London together for the day. What would be the cheapest way of getting a ticket? Do they still do cheap tickets where you all travel together? This would be from Ipswich area. Thanks!

Multiple TOC refunds
Hi, I'm new to this forum, so apologies for repeat posting, but I haven't been able to find a clear answer. Yesterday I bought a return ticket from Crawley to Oxford. I didn't book in advance with a particular TOC, but just turned up at the station and bought a day return from the machine. On my return journey I was…

Oyster Season Ticket not appearing
Hi, I renewed my weekly travel card this morning as usual, but when I tapped out at Victoria, I noticed I'd been charged for travel. I did some digging when I arrived at work and found that although payment had been taken by my card provider, no season ticket was present on my Oyster card. To complicate matters, I…

Virgin West Coast + Virgin East Coast
Am a regular traveller to London and used to mainly use East Coast Rail. Service was always better and you could usually get some cheap fares most days. Now they are both run by the same company you can only get cheap fares some days but it is not predictable which days that will be. Some times the weekend is cheap and…
