I've got these linked. When my rail card is renewed I assume I need to got to a booking office (or whatever they are called now) to renew the link. Or does it carry on being linked without me needing to do anything?

Thus you need to get your replacement railcard 'linked'.0 -
Thanks wealdroam I suspected that would be the case. Can I do this at tube stations where booking offices have been closed or do I need to go to a station that still has one?0

You can do this at stations where the booking office has been closed. You just have to ask the member of staff who is there to help at the machines. I did this myself last Tuesday at Stratford. The member of staff signed onto the machine, and went through a process, where he entered the expiry date of the RailCard and the last 6 digits of its number, and then I touched the Oyster card on the touch pad, and the Oyster card was updated. I know it worked because I immediately made a suitable journey, and noticed that I was charge the discounted price.0

Is there any difference in the procedure if your cards have never been linked before?0

The Oyster card has to be registered. You can register it on the TfL web site. You can also fill in a form and take it to a booking office. Not sure if it can be done bu staff on a normal Oyster to pup machine.0
