New Year, New Plans and Hopes
Good Morning chums ,well as its almost the end of 2017 what things would you like to see change for the better in the coming year. Not so much resolutions, as they are far to easy to forget, and break. But actual plans, hopes and dreams ,be they small or large and why I am hoping to detox my study of all the old rubbish…

Turkey carcass
Don't know if this is the right place to post on. Can I use the turkey carcass to make a curry tomorrow, it's been covered with tin foil since Christmas day only opened today for more sandwiches. It seems a waste to throw away lots of meat still on it.

Weekly Flylady Thread 25th December 2017
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

OS way to save new leather coat?
I bought my OH a leather coat (the soft matte leather) for Christmas and I gave him it early as his old coat was worn out. He wore it for a Christmas night out and a drink (shots) got spilt on it. We took it to the shop to see what they could recommend but they think it's ruined 😔. £200 down the drain. Any suggestions…

walk or drive?
I am thinking of popping to the supermarket to collect a few bits I forgot in the main shop. I want to walk as exercise will do me good and I only need a couple of things. But what if there are lots of YS bargains and I can't carry them home  Would you walk/drive or just forget it and stay at home

Help
OH dropped a 4 pint container of frozen milk in the drawer of my freezer, it now has a lovely crack in the plastic front of the drawer, any ideas how I can stabilise it? Did wonder about gorilla tape, would the temperature of the freezer affect it? I doubt I can get a new drawer the freezer is a few years old, bought in…

Greens, stalks and leaves...?
Before I chuck them in the compost... Just taken a load of leaves off 2 cauliflowers, and quite often end up with a big piece of broccoli stalk. Can I slow cook these parts to make soup? Can I stick-blend them into the soup? Im not bothererd about the fact that they look a bit naff, more about if they are palatable. Also,…

Making savings before it's too late
I decided to do a full audit of all our expenditure over the last 12 months. This was prompted by the realisation that, although we're still in the black, our savings are much reduced compared to this time last year. I really wanted to know the answer to the age-old question - where does it all go?? As a result of a lot of…

Uninvited (Furry) Guests...?
I found this hole in my living room floor this morning and I'm sure it wasn't there yesterday. Does it look like a hole made by a rodent to you? The black bits are pieces of foam and fluff not poo. I have a little furry myself and I am confident it wasn't him because a) I've had little furries long enough to know all their…
