Accidentally froze the lobster tails!!!
I’m gutted!! I spent £36 on lobster tails and put them in the freezer by mistake! It dawned on me while I was at work.... and this evening I checked the packaging which clearly says it’s already been frozen, and there not suitable for home freezing! Do I just have to bin them.... or can I remove them from Xmas dinner and…

Chocolate covered coffee beans
Not strictly 'old style' but as there are lots of food related threads I thought this might be the right place to find an answer. I've been given some chocolate covered coffee beans - very nice - but what do I do with them? (The packaging doesn't give me any clue.) I'm guessing my options are: 1. Eat them? (Wouldn't the…

Deeply regret throwing stuff away
I'm really upset about throwing something's away and it's entirely my fault. I have too much stuff and so every once in a while I have a ruthless moment. I was going through things when clearing out boxes stored in the garage and I came across 4 toy rabbit dolls my grandmother made for me when I was little. 2 were my main…

I’ve iced the cake What now?
I’ve my Christmas cake iced with shop bought fondant, now what? I mean what kind of environment should I keep it: back into its cake tin, covered with parchment, or left to dry out in a dry room, cover with a tea towel? After care if you like 🤓

Recycle Christmas hamper?
I was sent a beautiful Christmas hamper by special delivery. Full of good things. I was lucky enough to have been given one last year too. So now I have two empty wicker hampers in the cupboard upstairs! Any ideas for what to do with them? Charity shop??

handkerchiefs or tissues?
I got wondering if hankies might be a better (as in, more eco-friendly) option than using tissues and keep throwing them away. Having said that, my mum refused to have hankies, saying they were unhygienic :rotfl: and we always had a box of tissues at home instead. I can see what she means, having used hankies hanging…

Rescuing chutney
I made a few jars of chutney in September. They taste fine but are so thick. Is it possible to thin them out? I don't want to put water in just in case it ruins them, or vinegar in case it makes them too sour. Tomato juice? Any suggestions?

Turkey won't fit in freezer, lol
my daughter ordered my shopping and ordered a large turkey for christmas because I have my two sisters coming to stay. The problem is it won't fit in the freezer. I can put it in the fridge for now, but wondering if anyone is up on all this cooking business, because I'm not really. Wondering if I defrost it in the fridge,…

Weekly Flylady Thread 18th December 2017
:xmastree: Christmas week starts here :xmastree: Last full week before the big day - lots of flying to be done! What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's…

Does anyone know what shop(s) sell clear food bags? I want them to wrap up some homemade food xmas presents and tie the top with ribbon (I have ran out of cellophane) The clear bags I have in at moment, have "Tesco" written over them  I don't have time to order online so it needs to be from a supermarket. Thanks

Old fashioned undergarments
I love vintage fashion but always think the wasp waists in the 1950s a bit too extreme- they must have been uncomfortable! I was looking at a magazine from the 1960s and was surprised to see ads for girdles as the fashions looked much more relaxed and lose fitting by then. When did people stop wearing girdles, corsets etc?…
