I know I can buy olive oil in glass bottles but looking around it seems that ordinary cooking oil only seems to be sold in plastic bottles.I hate plastic with avengence, anyone know where I can buy a glass bottle of cooking oil or do I have to decant cooking oil into a glass bottle myself

I noticed that high end olive oil came in glass, up to a certain volume, at which point it went plastic.
A cousin has decanted for decades as she was given a collection of glass bottles as a gift that look glorious, pour easily & have robust stoppers. I think find the chosen receptacle, test & migrate/decant.
Then be very clear who inherits in the Will.0 -
I think you'll probably have to find a glass bottle and decant yourself, Jackie. I've re-used one that previously had sweet chilli sauce in it (a litre bottle that I bought at a very good price); washed out and refilled with sunflower oil it's just the job, pours well without drips and has a screw top lid.
Just thinking, quite a lot of wine bottles come with screw top lids nowadays - maybe that would work for you?
Be kind to others and to yourself too.0 -
I’m not sure whether you meant just olive oil, Jackie, but I get a pleasant rapeseed oil in a glass bottle at L*dl.0

My son's gf is Greek and they press their own olive oil. They store it in screw top wine bottles.0

It kind of depends whether you want to avoid buying/using plastic at all, JackieO. In that case - and I'd be with you on that! - i'd second the rapeseed oil from L!DLs as mentioned by Well Preserved. Not overly expensive, and perfectly acceptable. But if it's just the look of the thing, then yes, find a nice bottle & decant...Angie - GC May 25: £74.30/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 21/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Looks like a trip to Lidls in the New Year for me, thanks chums I really hate plastic bottles and the tops get so disgusting
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
The only saving grace for plastic bottles is if, like me, you regularly have the Dropsies. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Sorry, I realise that you are looking for oil sold in a glass bottle but I've also resolved to decant since I opened my larder door last week and a bottle of cooking oil fell out, spilling all over the floor and under the cabinet! (Overstuffed Christmas cupboard syndrome
) Just a warning...
Those tops are so flimsy it just flipped off! I have one of those ceramic bottles with a pourer but somehow don't think that they would wash well? So the next empty Fillipe Berrio olive oil bottle will be used as it's a much better size for pouring. The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.
