This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Everyone is much later about this morning, I hope this means that you are all managing to get some sleep!

Dumpling I’m glad that Becky is home for Christmas and that you are having some good family time together.
Cranky, hopefully your leg is finally on the mend.

I really need to change my bedding and give the bedroom a good clean this morning. The bedding will get done, but I’m not so sure about the cleaning. I can’t seem to find the energy at the moment.

I hope those of you that have to go shopping today or tomorrow don’t find it too stressful, and that everyone’s Christmas preparations are going to plan.

Hugs, to those who need/want them and I hope that all of you suffering from the virus that is doing the rounds soon feel better. It sounds like a really bad one.

Have a good Saturday everyone.
• Good morning all
Haven't slept much after reading something DiL put on social media.
Everything bought, everything wrapped.

Hope you all have a good day
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
• Morning folks and thanks HOLLY H for starting us off. Another cough cough night for me. I am getting thoroughly fed up of this virus now.

I was late to bed as DD, BF and the girls were due home last night. I couldn't go to bed until I knew they were safely home - it was just midnight!!

Yesterday's clean up was as half hearted as expected but it's the best it's getting I'm afraid. No energy. Just the bedding to strip off and wash at some point.

We are meeting Mr TA's DB and SIL at lunchtime for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. In years gone by it used to be an all afternoon and most of the evening affair but illness has limited it to just one or two drinks now. DS is joining us as he has finished work but his GF is working today.

Have a good day folks and I hope you are all on track with your festive plans. ((HUGS)) to all in need/want of them. SILVER-OLDIE my heart goes out to you. Much love all xx

Morning all

Unfortunately not HH....I've been awake since 4.30am yet again but I was reading my book in the hope I'd drop back to sleep. No such luck so I'm worn out already.

Have a good day everyone and (((hugs))) to those in need, especially silver-oldie x

• Morning everyone. Mild and damp here again.

Sorry to read that you don't feel 100% HH. Sometimes you feel as if you're never going to feel well again.

Silver-Oldie, I read your post on another board, and I would have felt the same as you, it would have kept me awake as well.. How hurtful and nasty.

Everything is done here, all I need is some bread. I popped into M*rrisons yesterday, it was absolutely mad! People with trolleys piled high, huge queues, I felt a bit sorry for the checkout staff.

Visited friends last night and had a pleasant evening. Today I'm going to tidy the spare bedroom. It has been used as a "wrapping station". Now everything is done, the paper and gift tags etc can get put away. I no longer have any excuse to avoid dusting, and mopping the floor. The bathroom could do with a proper clean as well, so will get down to that.

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Haven't slept much after reading something DiL put on social media.

Oh no. I hope you're OK and get some rest today.
Unsocial media, I like to call it.

I was lying in the dentist's chair, trying my hardest not to get up and run away. I didn't even take my coat off so I could get out ASAP if I had to :D Most of my brain was telling me to run, the logical part was telling me that it'll all be fine. It was exactly how the logical part told me it would be – perfectly fine. I'll still panic again next time though, lol. My teeth look great (I'm allowed to say that because I didn't grow them myself, lol) but weird at the same time, I suppose it'll take a while to get used to them. If anyone laughs, I'll bite them, just because I now can :rotfl: Can't wait to take a great big bite of stuffed crust pizza, I've been nibbling bite-sized pieces for ages.

Woke up this morning and the first thing I thought was OMG TEETH! I touched my mouth, realised it was all done, I don't have the dentist, I went yesterday woohoo.gif So I'm in a VERY good mood :snow_grin

I brought one of the Christmas trees indoors, it just about fits in the corner by the back door. I can't close the curtain properly, I have to be careful opening the cupboard door and I've had to move Scampi's cushion a bit but he doesn't seem to mind, lol.

Family are coming round tomorrow so I'll be sorting food today, laying the table, etc. Must wash the extra glasses too, they've been at the back of a cupboard for months and will be very dusty. I have a couple of loads of washing to do and will vacuum upstairs. I'm hoping to eat something more exciting than the culinary delights I had yesterday – lukewarm baked beans, soft bread and bananas :D I had to put up with lukewarm tea too, the hot tea I'm drinking right now is fabulous :D

• Morning all, I've been up for a few hours but not here.

To those whose cleanING plans have gone belly-up, so have mine. Yesterday I was meant to be wrapping things, then clean because of tge glittery explosion caused by the very pretty wrapping paper bought by OH . I got half way through before my work phone rang. The rest of the day and early evening I ended up working and on the phone with managers so I'm starting again today and I'm hoping that little twinkly lights will make up for any lack of proper scrubbage. The sitting room is quite clean and the bathroom, the kitchen is clean but I can't get rid of the whiff of mouldy satsuma, why is there always one mouldy one or one about to fester in every bag..
I haven't done decorating yet, I do it on the last Saturday before Christmas so must get those pretty lights out sharpish. I managed to remember extra batteries.
OH is up and messing about on his laptop, whistling. He has spent the entire summer whistling Christmas carols despite threats if extreme violence, and for the last two weeks the whistling has morphed into renditions of various non-seasonal songs. Basically, he is a bit like a human whistle version of tru's December posts in July. Now he's started on Fur Elise, and changed mid whistle to Michael Row the Boat Ashore. But hooray, he's b*ggered off shopping .

Yours in tiredness and dust, aod and I hope you have a better day than I probably will

Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Now light, damp and dismal, but still mild.

DH up and enjoying first peaceful cuppa, I've already showered, dressed, hair dried and face on, and been to collect meat hamper from the butchers, all now safely put into fridge or freezer - so I'm satisfied that everything is taken care of food-wise.

Yesterday I was productive again, I did get a minimal clean done, tackled the ironing pile, and got the desserts for today's family get together done, Paris Brest looks ok, but I'm not overly impressed with my effort, but think it will look better once the filling is made and it's assembled, I did have a mild panic as my youngest niece has a peanut allergy, and Paris Brest has almonds on it and in the filling, so got thinking is the allergy just peanuts or all nuts! Whilst I'm worrying about this eldest son comes in and says he thought the arrangements for family get together was Xmas Eve not tonight - cue panic phone call to my other sister who thankfully confirmed it's tonight. So desserts are now Paris Brest, Profiteroles with choc sauce (really for the children especially niece with nut allergy as she loves these, but we have to keep them away from mum due to her diabetes!) and a fresh fruit platter. I'll assemble everything at mum's after taking all that I need with me. We'll be heading over there at 4pm ish.

Now need to get organised and leave for work.

Keep safe and well x

• Silver oldie, that's just very unpleasant. I know what I'd want to say to her but I'd get banned from here.

I've just read your post on another thread and want to say that I really feel for you, that was a horrible thing for her to post ((hugs)).
