Afternoon all.
I have spent most of the morning making stuffings, a sausage, apple and cranberry and a chestnut and apricot. It took so long as my chef Mr Fix It was off his game :rotfl:. I read out the ingredients and weighed them, so all he had to do was put them together ready for cooking. Should have taken an hour tops, took us over two . In his defence he had taken some prescribed sleeping tablets last night and couldn't sort out the sage from the thyme :rotfl:. Luckily one stuffing contained both. Dad commented that he doesn't like that fancy stuff, so he will get P*xo and lump it. Can't go through another "gate", we've had "turkey gate" already this year and last year it was "Prawn ring gate". But that's a story for another time :rotfl:.
Anyway I have filled and emptied the dishwasher twice and this afternoon I have a few thing to iron, then that's me parked on the sofa to watch some festive films. As my favourite is on now "Scrooge" with Albert Finney, we are recording it for later. Tea tonight will be a chinese takeaway :j, which has become an annual tradition.
Silveroldie How rude and uncouth is your DiL, I'd be spitting feathers at her comments. If it were me I would go but make my parting words to her "Happy Christmas from your ......... " and repeat what she called you, then just walk away, head high.
To those with housework problems, please don't worry about it. (Says she who also worries about it, so guilty as charged :rotfl:)
Tru Please accept the gold star for bravery at the dentist. :staradmin:dance:. Enjoy your new gnashers.
JackieO I hope you have a lovely peaceful Christmas too, just in case you are offline tomorrow. Love and light to all your family.
Hope everyone is having a good Saturday whatever your plans. Hugs to all those who need or want any, my hug bucket is always full, so please help yourselves.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -

Evening all.
Busy day for me, though not nearly as busy as others. I was out early this morning to get parked for my first job, swapping a diary at Ryman’s and then did shopping, took stuff to the tip and delivered a card to a friend.
As my students had until yesterday to submit a piece of work I decided to get them all marked today and off my plate. Four have missed the deadline, all others are done and dusted so I can de-stress myself now.
I’ve just watched an old film, Mildred Pierce, which was lovely. Nothing moved too fast, the scenes weren’t shot in darkness and no-one mumbled or spoke too fast. My kind of film! :rotfl:
Now I’m off to read. Sorry it’s so late but happy rest of Saturday to everyone.0 -
Hi everyone
Not posted for a week or so . Been busy at work and feeling awful...terrible cough for weeks, asthma attacks in the middle of the night, achy and fluey and then woke up full of cold on Tuesday! Managed to get to the end of the week and I'm on holiday now till 9th January. Trying to rest as much as possible...had a nice couple of hours this afternoon with unread magazines and papers.
Eldest DD has been home from uni for a week or so, though she has loads of work to do as this is her final year. Shes going out for food and drinks tonight with friends...she hasn't seen them since July. Youngest daughter has a month off work as she works in a holiday park. Shes in Benidorm but will be home late tomorrow night...hopefully before Santa!
If I don't get back on, hope everyone has a lovely Christmas Day....in whatever way they celebrate....ours will be quite quiet I think.0 -
Gers looking forward to Feud tonight on TV I agree they really don't make good movies anymore that aren't filled with violence or bad language.Just watched Saving Mr Banks on my TiVo box that recorded ages ago and thoroughly enjoyed it Emma Thomson and Tom Hanks brilliantly paired as P.L. Travers (Mary Poppins author) and Walt Disney.Absolute tosh on TV tonight so I'm glad I have some good movies to watch until Feud comes on.
Have a great evening chums

Evening all,
what a 24 hours! Starting off with the arrival of the Grandchildren for their sleepover. Diva only woke up once during the night and Livewire slept well.
All the Christmas shopping has been bought. If we have forgotten anything now its tough as Im not going out again. Just a few cards now left to hand deliver and gifts to wrap but that will be tomorrows job. Wish me luck, ive got to talk to my SIL about what she said to Grump the other night about me having all the time in the world to go Christmas shopping.... Of course, Grump could have fought my corner but he didnt so i'll have to do it instead.
With all his faults Grump has been generous this year. He's bought me a new steam mop and a slow cooker to replace my ageing one. He didnt have to, he's spent a fair bit in the house over the last few months but i'm glad he has. It makes me feel a bit more valued..... Then on the way home he hit me with it. He thinks his new Ute needs a new clutch. I didnt say a word.
Talking about Social media. I saw a distant neighbour today who actually commented about something i said on my Facebook a couple of months ago. Ive got an open profile but i wasnt aware that the rubbish i post on social media was interesting enough for people who i'm not 'Friends' with would find interesting enough to keep tabs on.
Talking about Social Media, eldest Son has appeared on Facebook again. He comes and goes like the wind but Facebook is the only way i can contact him. He looks well.
Thinking about Prodigal. He came to us for Christmas dinner last year. I hope he is well and wont be alone on Christmas day.
Silver-oldie ive never been popular with my eldest Sons ex's. Underlying resentment with the first that i didnt do enough to encourage my Son to stay with her when she became pregnant. We are 'Friends' on Social media but i find it hard when she still goes on about how hard done by she is being a one parent family. Well maybe if she didnt use her fists when she didnt get her own way with him i might have had some sympathy. The Mother of his other two Sons was from a family of 8. I made the mistake of saying they were all feral to him (which i still stand by) but i didnt think my Son would tell her this during a drunken argument. My loss maybe as i never got the relationship i wanted with my two Grandsons but then again, neither did my Son. She uses them as a stick to beat him with. She hasnt allowed him to see them now for the last 6 months. The reason... her current boyfriend doesnt like him.

That's heart breaking. I just do not understand how anyone could do that
I'm perhaps being a bit sensitive, (I really dread this time of year), but reading and thinking about your post made me feel physically sick.
Why do people use innocent young children as a battering ram'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
