This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Thanks for the thread karcher, hugs to all those in need.
Get well soon Csarina.

No real plans today, more painting might be done by CHS, more crochet by me.
I'm not sleeping well but on the up side I read two books last night. Whatever would I do without my kindle.

Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
Chin up, Titus out.

Morning :santa2:

silver-oldie I sniggered when I read your post :D I'm so pleased you had a lovely day :D

dumpling How is Becky doing? I hope you're all OK xx

redruby I've just been scrolling through FB – haven't been on it properly for ages – and your kitchen is FABULOUS! :D

Little Mate was thrilled with his presents. We all took it in turns to be spies while we played with Spiderman walkie talkies, then we were power rangers, then pirates. Miss tru gave him her slinky – she's had it since she was about 5 and I had no idea it was still lurking in her room – because he was fascinated by it and thought it was magic, lol. When they left he took some snacks with him in his treasure chest – two mini mince pies, three matchmakers, a bit of lettuce and a sausage roll :D

Scampi has been really good, considering the busy couple of days we've had. He got a bit stressed a couple of times but soon calmed down. He's been proudly wearing a red and white bandana with Santa Paws written on it :D I didn't think he'd wear it but the gift-giver bought a large size with velcro so he didn't feel trapped and could pull it off easily. He wore it all day, lol. Miss tru is the present-hander-outer every year, she sits under the tree and decides who gets to open the next thing. Scampi follows her every move then watches you unwrap, sniffs the gift then the paper then trots back over to repeat the process til we've finished :D He also unwrapped a toy by pulling the paper into a million pieces, then spent 20 minutes pulling the toy into a million pieces :D Loves the rubber bone that smells like peanut butter though, lol.

I've been able to eat all our usual Christmas food except for peanuts and french bread. I was surprised, I thought I'd have to miss out on more than that.

Today I'll be trying out my presents. I'll start with a shower with my new lotions and potions (all of them at once) then I'll light the crackling berry candle, wear snuggly slipper boots over Father Christmas socks, eat chocolate off my lap tray, ponder where to put the air fryer and stare in wonder at all the yarn. Will probably squish the yarn a lot too – yarny people will completely understand this. If I start to feel cold, I'll put on the long fleecy top with a hood and pom poms :D

I hope you all have a relaxing day x

• I got yarn for Christmas too Tru, I bought it for myself, the Attic24 Woodland bag.
Chin up, Titus out.
• Morning folks and thanks KARCHER. Most unusual for me but I actually slept in this morning till 8.15!

I hope everyone had as good a day as possible yesterday. We were thoroughly spoilt rotten by the family and got loads of presents, including tickets to see Anton and Erin at the Alhambra, with a gift voucher for a meal beforehand. Too much other stuff to name. It's all piled up on the table still as I couldn't be arrised doing it yesterday.

Mr TA's flu like symptoms relaxed into coughing and sneezing as the day wore on yesterday. So we had a very lazy day and spent all day scoffing finger food and chocs.

It's the big family day at DD's today so I hope he feels up to going. I have three lots of meat to cook and take down - a large turkey crown is in the oven as I speak and will be joined shortly by a piece of pork. The gammon will be simmering away on the hob after my post.. We don't eat till after two so it should all be ready in time despite sleeping in!

I hope yesterday went as well as it could DUMPLING. Maybe having the DGC there eased the tension a bit? SILVER-OLDIE I still smile when I think of your DIL getting called into work!!

Have a good all whatever you are up to. ((HUGS)) all who want/need them. Take care xx

Happy Boxing Day

Karcher hands up I was up late up so 8.30 get up for me .....shockingly late for me
Dumpling hope the day went OK for you
Tru thats a good stash you got there

I was not particularly looking forward to yesterday but then I never do ...I love all the build up but not the main event. Saying that it was a nice day but i'm glad its all over again for another year. The turkey is by no means over though it really is huge and whilst I did have a good size dinner with it you would not think I had had any

What does everyone do with turkey left overs? Im thinking curry of course and maybe a turkey and leek pie but could do with inspiration

Was going to cook the ham today but I will just add to my left over problems so I will leave that for new year I think.

Kitchen needs a scrub down today and then portioning everything for the freezer. Washing in then off out with a friend later for a drink ...we were supposed to eat too but as my fridge is bulging then ill stick to the drink.

Hope you all enjoy your day and hugs for those not feeling well :A

Morning everyone,

Been up since 6.30 as Lulu needed doing, the yard counts BHols as weekends so owners responsibility, didn't mind as it's a nice, if not colder morning. Luckily it has calmed down a bit as we had a lot of rain and wind in the night.
We had a smashing day yesterday with the boys staying until late, we played games, watched a bit of tv and generally relaxed, perfect :)
We have no visitors today so will strip the turkey and portion it up for the freezer, same with the ham, tea today will be cold meat and pickles which I really do like more than the big meal itself, the boys cleared the veg so no bubble and squeak but loads of red cabbage left so we won't starve!
TRU my dogs love unwrapping their presents too and often try to 'help' with ours, they get very excited about the whole thing!
Hope poorlies are feeling a tad better, have a good Boxing Day folks x
• Good morning all
Thank you karcher for starting us off

Dumpling hugs, how is Becky?

TA hope you and Mr TA feel better and enjoy your day

JackieO. hoping dear Frank and Margaret get to spend precious time together on their 62nd wedding anniversary today. Thoughts are with them.

Yesterday we visited mother in the morning and then just the two of us for the rest of the day.
Today looks beautiful and bright, haven't been out but bet it's cold. Think we may have a short walk before lunch.

Hope you all have a good Boxing Day
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
• Morning all, we had a good day and now we are having another one.

I think I absorbed food through my skin while cooking yesterday because I didn't have room for much at dinner but the chaps did. DS is heaving sighs and nursing indigestion now.

I didn't get yarn but I bought myself some.

Silver Oldie, I'm so impressed by the way karma strikes in exactly the right place.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Thanks Tru I am very pleased with it, SilverO I would love to put a photo up on here but have no idea how to do it :o I know Tru is much more techi than I am so maybe she can help ?

We had a lovely day yesterday and I was thoroughly spoilt and got many lovely gifts all the family gifts are all in my study atm as it was raining when they left last night so they will pick up today.

Today is basically a repeat of yesterday but with a more simple menu jacket spuds cold meats and salads, there are plenty of puddings left too so no one will go hungry.

We are going to go out for a walk first so dinner will be later, dd is off to her BF for dinner.

Right better get on have good days all xx
