Just popping in to see how Dumpling and her family are doing. Glad its all on an evenish keel honey. What a great idea for you to get a furry friend as a companion Dumpling and research is the key.
This time last year my DD was in bits as her rescue lurcher had to be PTS as he was so poorly and we all had a very subdued Christmas after losing gentle Bowie whom, although they had only had for four month was such a lovely rescue dog and her other little Jack Russell Lexi was very lonely being on her own, as she had always had a playmate.
I remember its a year ago tomorrow when we went off to have a look around the rescue kennels and the last little dog we saw was this almost bald little maltese terrier who had been abandoned and left tied up in a barn.He had been brought in half starved and had to have 6 weeks of constant vet treatment, plus most of his coat shaved off, his tail had been docked to a tiny stump but his eyes were bright and he seemed to be quite a friendly little guy.
My DD fell for him and within a couple of weeks after the vet gave him a clean bill of health we were allowed to bring him home I don't think he had ever been in a house before, and he was very confused, but within a week he had picked up how to scratch at the door to go out and was clean very quickly .He is adored by DD and the family and when he wags whats left of his tiny stumpy tail his whole back end wags as well.Very friendly and likes everything apart from cats and birds which he hates with avengence and barks frantically at any passing bird .Little Teddy is a character and my DGS adore him.
He knows how to behave, and knows I brook no nonsence from him on walks My DD says he takes more notice of me with a glance then he ever does by telling him off
and I'm not in the least an animal person and he knows I expect a dog to be on the floor and not my knee
:)
Do have a look at a rescue place if you can there are so many dogs there who want a loving home and to be looked after and will give you so much love DD has had over the years 7 rescue dogs and they all have been great and with five children as well the dogs soon become another part of the family and all of them have adored the kids.
I hope things progress better in the New Year with Becky for you and her treatment starts to work.
Update on our Frank and Margaret, DD and son-in-law went up yp london to seethe and took her a nice bunch of flowers for her anniversary. They stayed and Dd made margaret sit down and rest and cooked her lunch .DD says she is worried about her as she thinks its getting very stressful for her and she is in the house 24/7. so she will try to get some sort of rota with a couple of the neighbours for someone to sit with him for half and hour just so she can get to the shops for a quick bit of shopping.Thye have good friends locally whom they have known for years and even half an hour would give her a small break from being indoors .I sent her up via my DD big bag of paperbacks to help with the long hours she spends as he sleeps quite a bit. They are hoping to get him his anti bionics tomorrow for his catheter infection. She is sleeping on the sofa to be near him in case he calls her in the night for anything. She is 81 and had a good few problems with her back herself poor soul. But they made th 62 years together which was fantastic.
I might try to get up to see him towards the end of the week only with this horrible virus that just won't go away I don't want him to get my bug on top of evrything else.Everyone I meet seems to be spluttering with it at the moment.
