Waste not want not
What do you consider to be waste, and how do you avoid it? I hate wasting food - I've just had to throw away a full, unused pot of potato salad because the weather turned cold, I was making stews instead of salads, and it got forgotten at the back of the fridge until it was well past its use-by date. I'm normally more…

Poshed up macaroni cheese.
I have just seen the advert for Morrisons the best macaroni cheese that had crab in it. I can't say I fancy crab and I am not keen on ready meals. It got me thinking how could the humble macaroni cheese be improved? I have added mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes, smoked haddock, broccoli (not all at the same time) What's your…

What have you batch cooked?
Well I spent my day batch cooking for the freezer and am now stocked up with: Chilli, bolognaise, chicken tikka, squash soup, califlower&broccoli cheese, marinaded chicken & veg in fajita spice and cooked and sliced pork (frozen apple juice) and roasted a chicken for the weeks lunches. I find it a lot easier to have things…

Trying to remove dried bloodstains from clothing following an accident. Soaked stuff overnight in a Vanish liquid and on rinsing items looked clean again. However now it's dry the white nylon still looks badly brown stained. Any suggestions on what I can try now?

What to make with tin of black beans?
After my last shop, I realised that, instead of picking up a tin of refried beans (which I love with tacos) I'd picked up a tin of black beans instead (almost identical labels) :o . I've never had them before and was wondering if anyone has used them in a recipe they'd recommend? Thanks.

Is quick washing bad for clothes?
I planned to go to a relatives this weekend and whilst there wash some clothes meaning I don't have to do mine again till Thursday or Friday. Yes recently talked about false economy of big loads being worse than small loads, its not the money side of it more that I was worried that constant washing will lighten clothes due…

Help! I made apple and blackberry crumble this morning and stupidly forgot to put the sugar in with the apples before putting the crumble on top. Is it salvable at all?? Also, I was intending on doing Delia's parmesan parsnips but have forgotten the parmesan. What can I do to get them that lovely crustiness? I can't get to…

Haggling.
I've saved a lot by just politely asking sales people, "Is that the best you can do?" Yesterday, by simply asking that question, I saved an additional £20 on top of their other deals from a high street opticians; an 8% saving on that transaction and a further £20 reduction at a high street jewellers, which was a 10% saving…

Favourite fish
Hi all, My boyfriend has recently become pescetarian. We've mainly been eating veggie as neither of us really knows what to do with fish! I tend to prefer less 'fishy' fish, and would like a fish that I can flavour quite easily. I was wondering if anyone has any favourite fish fish and/or recipes along these lines? If it…
