I have some horrid stains on my kids clothes! Can anyone advise?
I have a few stains on my boys clothes that I have been desperately trying to rid and have tried Vanish, Ace Bleach, sunlight, and Fairy Liquid (my MIL swears by it neat, does sometimes work but not on the current stains...) The stains have been there for a while now, but is there anything that will remove them? I don't…

Soggy biscuits
I having been making my own biscuits for the last few weeks and they taste very nice, except they're a bit soft:rotfl: Is this normal for HM biscuits? They're just a rich plain biscuit. The recipe called for SR flour and I'm wondering if I should change to plain. They are also not as thin as they could be as I always find…

Greasy fairy cakes
I hope someone can help. I have been following Jamie's recipe for fairy cakes: 6oz sr flour 6oz butter 6oz sugar vanilla extract and 3 eggs. The cakes rise well and are fine after baking but within 30 minutes become very greasy to touch and feel. My grandkids love cakes and I don't want to stop baking. Any ideas? Thanks.…

Out of date taco kit
I just spied a taco kit at the back of the cupboard. When I finally managed to get it down, the use by date is May 2008 :o I've opened it and the shells look okay tbh, they are shrink wrapped. Should I use them anyway? I've got some mince in the freezer so we could have them tomorrow.

Filling the Freezer!
We work long hours running a caravan park so I'm wanting to use this week (before we open again) to stock up the freezer a bit. Not so much for spending less but so we can still have decent meals at our busy times. I'm wanting to do some lasagne, cottage pie type things but a bit wary of how to store them in the freezer…

Help! His parents are coming!
Oh dear, they'll be up in a few weeks to stay probably 5 days! I've just realised it's going to cost me loads for foods for them. Breakfasts lunches, dinners etc. (Add to it the blind panic I'm in 'cos she goes through my cupboards and drawers to make sure they're all tidy - which they're not!)..

How can I avoid buying a new sofa?
Hi folks, first-time poster so apologies if this is not the appropriate forum. I'm hoping for some advice because I'm pretty clueless when it comes to simple stuff like this! I have a fairly cheap IKEA sofa, which came cheap from Gumtree and is in great condition. However, it's the sort which is all one piece and you have…

help washing wool mans jacket
I bought a lambswool mans jacket today in a charity shop and don't want to pay for dry cleaning as it is expensive and wondered how I could clean it at home? Do you think it would work if I washed it gently in warm water with a mild detergent and then rinsed and spin in washer? Or should I squirt it with a solution of…

Just wondering if you think it would be worthwhile for me to buy one of these? I lead a very busy life. Fruit and fibre biscuits
Hello! Have half a pack of Sainsbury's version of fruit and fibre, not too keen on it as a cereal so thought I'd make it into biscuits instead. Does anyone have a recipe I can adapt? I'm no good at guessing quantities ;) Have had a quick Google and haven't spotted anything yet. Thanks :D

Non electric Fragrance diffuser for indoors
We were given a fragrance diffuser for Christmas, you know the sort ...pretty bottle filled with liquid/essence, then you have a set of ´sticks´that sit in the bottle soaking up the liquid and perfuming the air.You can buy them in Zara Home for about10 pounds in the UK, I think. It has been quite effective in our sitting…

'Dough' book by Richard Bertinet
Does anyone else have a copy of this book? I've fished mine out of the cupboard after some really disappointing results with my Panny breadmaker. He recommends 10g of salt to 500g flour  that seemed like an awful lot to me, so I used half that but the bread's still really salty. Has anyone else tried his basic white…
