OS Daily Thread - Monday 22nd February 2010

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Monday 22nd February. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS lovelies,
Shez - Have a great day!
Penpin - I hope the funeral goes as well as it can and that you can gain some comfort in the ritual of saying goodbye.
Hester - Hope you finished your craft room.
Bitsy - Oh yes, I know why he didn't turn up and it was not a good reason. I try to remember he isn't himself right now but I am still annoyed.
hart - I had a lovely Sunday thank you, very lazy and with a delicious roast chicken dinner.
taplady - I quite agree, it's never too early for cake.

Noahs - I really feel for you, you are such an amazing mum and it cannot be easy.
Sandy - I feel for you so much, saying goodbye to a beloved pet is always so painful.
Nic - Did you make the tuna quiche? I prefer it cold but it's very tasty either way.
Dazi - so did the surfing win or did you do some baking?
Pipkin - Hope the results are good.
kassaw - So sorry to hear the news. My thoughts and prayers are with your OH and family.
Snoozer - Hope the hospital goes well tomorrow

Got the link for THIS from AnW'sMum, I am a web octopus!
Managed to get my compost into the seed trays so it can warm up overnight and I can plant all my seeds tomorrow. Have brought them into the lounge as it's the warmest place in the house. Have tomatoes, peppers and chillies to start off plus some red onions.
Breakfast today will be the end of the weetabix loaf, toasted with butter and jam. Lunch will be my cheese savoury mix sandwiches and dinner will be the rest of the roast chicken. I cannot decide whether to make a curry or something else, I might browse for inspiration while I am here. I hope everyones week starts well, and that anyone feeling poorly
feels better soon. With love, light and warm gentle
for all.

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

:j:beer:Many Happy Returns Shez & Mrs N9eav:beer::j (I know the Bafta win has already made your birthday Shez
)
(((Hugs))) for PP & family today.
The weather here is disgusting, lucky I am in the office most of the day.
Yesterday wasn't too bad - DD & friend really enjoyed themselves, they waited outside at the end and got a wave from Jedward
I popped to Brent Cross as it was nearest. Lots of coffees, glad to find there was a paperchase there
but must admit did get sick of walking around.
Anyway today have a lot to get through and need to menu plan as well really need to go to the outside freezer so hope the rain does stop at sometime.
Kids back to school today :jso off to make packed lunches in a mo.
Have a good one.x
Good Luck with the course Sunnygirl0 -
Morning all
Very dark here still and I have no idea what the weather is doing as I haven't looked out yet!
Made sticky toffee pudding last night but it wasn't ready before DD went to bed - she woke me at 6 to say i'd forgotten to give her 'something special for her afterwards' last night and could she have it for breakfast.....not sure that much sugar is a good idea at this time on a morning but I'm going to work anyway:rotfl:
Made some soup last night in the slow cooker with a big chunk of bacon reduced in lidl with celery, leeks, potatoes, carrots and lentils so I'm going to go and fish out the bacon joint and blend it. That will do me and the younger kids for dinner tonight - the twins would condsider that a mere snack so they will want something more substantial and DH has his martial arts class tonight and doesn't eat until he gets back and he needs a big meaty meal after it - might turn some of the bacon and some lo chicken in to a pie for him coming in.
Right need to get organised to get everybody where they need to be for 9 o'clock
have a good day and if it can't be good I hope its the best it can be

Morning all,
Happy Birthday to Shez , and Mrs N9eav , have good days xx
Pouring with ran here again, it rained most of yesterday too, getting fed up with it now.
Back to school today for dd, just done her a hot x bun, grapes, banana and apple jucie.
Just had a phone call OH has no work today because of the rain, so hopefully get a few jobs done here.
Today I am going to make a bakewell tart for the first time, I love it but for some reason have never made it. I also need to pop out and get some spuds. Pork chops for tea, will cook them in the sc, and crisp them up in the oven.
Yesterday our brisket was delish, there was a tiny bit left, which I will have in a sandwich at lunchtime.
Pen pin, good luck for today xx
Kazzaw so sorry to hear your news xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Love and hugs to those who are sad or poorly.
PP - hope today goes as well as it can and that you all get some comfort some the funeral.
Clear and very frost here, brrr..... OH already left for work but didn't need to go too early so he bought me a coffee in bed before he left.
Back to work for me and school for DS1 and DS2 after we've all been off for a week, need to try to get motivated!!
We went away for 1 night on Saturday and as usual we had a good time and met up with lots of friends we haven't seen for a while, Burns supper was excellent as usual. We got back by 3.3.0pm yesterday after more sleet, snow and rain that arrived thick and fast yesterday moning.
Have menu planned for this week and am planning on keeping on top of it all so shouldn't be too bad, I'm now in week 3 of 4 and still have some budget left at the end of the month - not much admittedly but there's some! May have to be very inventive next week as I really want to keep within budget and then try to decrease it!
Going to pop off now otherwise I'll be let for work.
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Cold and frosty here this morning, DS3 has a Tshirt under his uniform as he insists on wearing the smallest jacket for school as he hates carrying it!
Need to po into town today, got lots of vouchers for my birthday burning a hole and DH needs me to go to the bank, but mum and dad coming for tea so torn between staying in and cooking or just throwing something together quickly. Think the shopping may win:D
DD didn't make it for my birthday yesterday so a little disappointed but it was very snowy, even though I would have visited her whatever the weather.
Everybody back at work and school today so should be peaceful for a while.

Morning peeps
no more snow here thank goodness, it is a bit icy in patches where its been compacted but i`m hoping for a big thaw today.
I didn`t manage to get on to post yesterday but read part of the thred so i`ve just caught up now.
Happy Birthday Shez & Mrs N9eav, belated birthday wishes Julie67 for yesterday too :bdaycake::bdaycake:
Penny Pincher - Hope that all goes as well as can be expected today
Sandie71 - Still thinking of you and your poorly kitty, hope things are ok.
Well yesterday in all the snow DH and i went to the shops
we didn`t have to but went all the same and i`m glad that we did as we now have huge amounts of birdfood, the pound shop had the Bill Oddie mixes in and loads of nuts and stuff :j The rest of the day was spend walking the houndies and baking etc and we had a lazy evening in front of the telly. We`ve not managed to do that since Christmas.
I`ve got to run and clean up the kitchen now before walking the houndies as my pal will be round for a cuppa soon and the birds are gathering outside waiting for their breakfast
I cooked a bacon joint up in the slowcooker last night with lots of veg which i`ve just whizzed up into soup, the joint is cooling atm. The bread is also cooling on the worktop and the yogurt maker hasn`t quite finished yet so that will have to stay put for the time being, The other slowcooker was on overnight too with a huge chill in it, i wasn`t going to bother but ended up stretching the enchilada mix that i made yesterday for a few more meals.
I`m off to make a start and then i think that i`ll have some of the cinnamon & raisin loaf that i made yesterday for brekkie toasted mmm!
Catch you all later peeps, have a good day.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon
