OS Daily Thread - Sunday 21st February 2010

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 21st February. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS lovelies, wave.gif
bday2.gifJulie - Have a great day hon!
Piglet - Nice to read you again and I know it's hard to be patient when living in a building site but it is all worth it in the end.
lisa - Yes it's an old recipe, though I added the pepper, the original didn't have any pepper in it but I love them so had to include it.. giggle.gif I have never made gluten free bread, I only made the gluten free fruit pies for a friend.
esmf - Sorry your holiday was not what you hoped it would be, and positive thoughts going out for your OHs mother.
jc - I am a fledgling meal planner. I can just about manage three days ahead now, occasionally four but have yet to crack a whole seven days!
Noahs - yes it said pepper when I typed it but somehow in copying it over it vanished...giggle.gif and the original recipe did not include it but like you I think they really go with tuna. Hope you feel better today too.
agirliegirl - Good of you to take in an extra child and hope your friends daughter gets some help.
Taplady - Someone else who loves cleaning but lives too far away to be my house elf... soooooooo frustrating..lol
Ladyshopper - Shingles sounds about right, I remember when my mum had them she was in pain for ages before the spots appeared. Hope you get through it quickly hon.
Elona - the flowers sound gorgeous
Sandy - sorry your cat is so poorly hon.
I can't believe my red roses are 9 days old now. They are still beautiful but just going 'over' now. Incredible value for £5.
My friend didn't turn up yesterday so I was all dressed and made up and sat like a lemon for two hours. He might be acting out of character and have a reason for it, but I am allowed to be annoyed. I came in from the garden to get cleaned up and ready for the visit so feel like I wasted precious time.

HShungry.gifBreakfast today is toasted weetabix loaf, and lunch will be roast chicken with roast potatoes and three veg. Wonderful!
I hope everyones weekend starts well, and that anyone feeling poorly head%20cold.gif feels better soon. With love, light and squishy HShuggies.gif for all.

    Morning.
Cool and damp here. Weather looks to be turning mild and wetter which is pretty awful and messy.
Church this morning and then invited out for lunch. It's sure to be a good roast. OH car performing well, but keeps on getting dirty :rotfl:
Nothing much else on, need to keep a tight reign on the purse strings now... keep on buying little bits and pieces.
    Have a good day...
    Who's up for Candleford later?

Sorry your friend didn't turn up Diva.
The trick to not getting the car dirty N9eav, is to not wash it too often, once it gets to a certain stage it doesn't show any more.
Hugs to you & OH PP, hopefully things will get better soon.
Had a massive clearout yesterday & found Hubby has 57 teashirts!!!
7 work teashirts & 2 he wears for best, the others are all only fit for rags, but I don't need that many rags.
I made a start on my sewing/craft room yesterday so hope to finish it today.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

didn't get anywhere near the 'puter yesterday - H had to take his scooter for a service which meant driving it all the way across to other side of Birmingham to where he bought it from. He followed me and the kids in the car and once we' dropped it off we wandered around Merry [STRIKE]Hell[/STRIKE] Hill. I think my tightwad ways are rubbing off on H as we only spent £5 and at one point we were in a toy shop and H was moaning about the cost of a tiny rubber bath duck being sold for 75p :T It was a long day as bike shop were busy so service took longer to get started.

Anyway have woke up today and it's white over again  Please not more snow have had enough now.......
My new mindee starts tomorrow morning (at 7.30am no less ) so I think my house work routine is going to have to change as I am unlikely to get anything done for the best part of my days now. So cramming it all in the weekends it is then :o Didn't get any done yesterday so will have to try and get most of the house cleaned today.
No idea what's for tea. think there is some cooked chicken in the freezer that I can defrost so will have that with "something".

Made lemon drizzle cake on Friday and half of it's gone already and I've not had a slice yet :( Is it too early for cake :p

Penny - Eek sleeping on the sofa for 3 nights  You poor thing. Do you know when the stair lift will be fixed. Be thinking of you tomorrow - hope the funeral goes as well as it can.

Diva - How annoying of your friend. Hope you found out why they didn't turn up. Nothing like wasting good makeup :(

Bargainbird - Hugs to you and the family. the sentancing in this country is a joke. there doesn't seem to be any logic to any of it :(

Julie - Happy birthday - hope you have a lovely day :D

Taplady & Sunnygirl - glad to hear you are both feeling better.

NPM - hope you're feeling a bit better today xx

Ladyshopper - glad to hear that some spots have appeared (IYSWIM) - least this way you know what the pain was for x

    Time for another coffee.
Try and check back later but I am trying to wean myself of MSE a little bit as I do find the more time I spend on here the less I get done :o

Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS Or not.

    Morning everyone

Up early on a Sunday for me, been up since 6 but all I have done is get some salmon out of the freezer and put some jacket potatoes in the slow cooker. On my second cuppa though.

Lots of snow here too hart, but then I am probably not that far from you.

OH went off to work at 5.30 this morning, said although the roads had been gritted he saw a couple of lorries stuck and was a bit worried but he has sorted his out now and is southbound so he is hoping it wont be too bad.

Going to crack on with housework today, make the place look like it belongs to someone :rotfl:Once I have finished that and sorted out the ironing mountain am hoping to start to crochet a pair of baby booties.

Have a good day everyone xx

  • Morning All

(((hugs))) PP and anyone else who needs one.

No snow here but white from the frost.

Busy day today, am taking DD & her friend to see the Xfactor Tour Live at Wembley Arena. I am dropping them off then finding somewhere to loiter for a few hours. I will be taking my book, ipod and netbook so hopefully won't get bored :D Westfield Shopping Centre is only about 20mins away but think that might be too much temptation. Anyone local to the area know anywhere?

We are leaving at 11ish and probably won't be back till about 8pm tonight  so that is the day gone. DD is really looking forward to it though - she has made a banner.

Was productive yesterday though thankfully so am quite up straight. Just need to sort out bread today for tomorrows packed lunches & thats it. Also hope to menu plan this morning and get a shopping list written. Plan to go to Aldi's this week (my first time) then alternate with Tesco's home delivery.

Off now to make another cuppa, have a lovely Sunday.x
  • Morning all from a very snowy Nottinghamshire.

Have been up since 2.30am and have had the joint in the slow cooker since around 5ish.
Willow was meowing at the door to go out but as soon as i opened the door she had a sniff and decided against it and is now curled on my knee in the warmth, she is alot cleverer than the two stupid rabbits at the top of the garden ignoring their clean dry hutch and sat gathering a couple of inches of snow on their heads as i type. :rotfl:
Dinner is a roast with all the trimmings and i plan to do some baking this afternoon.
Hugs to all in need xx
I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!

    Total £56

Good morning, how are you all today?

We've had more snow here, there's at least 2 - 3 inches of the stuff. It started falling around 2-ish yesterday afternoon, so that put the kybosh on our night out. Made macaroni cheese for dinner, so it was comfort food for us.

Going to have scrambled eggs for breakfast, home made soup for lunch and DH is going to make a beef massaman curry for dinner :)

    Have a good day folks
