Can you put a Crock Pot in the oven?
Hi I am making Beef Casserole for dinner tonight. We only have one casserole dish but it is too small to fit all of the ingrediants plus dumplins inside it (I know as I tried to cook it last week but had to leave the dumplins out) Anyway we do have a slow cooker. It is now too late to cook the casserole in the crock pot as…

Stain help please
I've got some whiteish stains over my worktop - when you wipe them, they kind of disappear but they reappear again when it's dry. I'm guessing it's either bleach, or stuff I used to clean the oven with on Monday -can't remember the name of it, it's the stuff that comes in the orange box. Any suggestions how to…

Rubber backing from bath mat stuck on floor
I had a rubber backed bath mat on a vinyl floor in the bathroom. The backing has come off badly on the floor & I need to remove it. I'm currently scraping it with a credit card (old one :p ), but it's going to be a very long job and it isn't removing all the stickiness. Any ideas? Thanks

Two quickish questions!
Question 1 - How do I make yogurt coated peanuts/dried fruit? Love them but find they are a bit expensive to buy in the shop, so can it be made at home? Question 2 - What can I replace bananas with in some recipes for a healthy muffin/bar? Basically bananas make me ill so I can't eat them :o

dried fruit storage (b.b.e.Jan/Feb 08)
I have previously store bought dried natural raisins and natural sultanas. They are still in their original light thin plastic containers that seems flimsy around the seals. I have read, however, that dried fruit has a very long storage date if stored correctly. Some of the raisins have a speckled grey/white colour so am…

Baking with sweetner?
Hi, Has anyone tried baking with sweetner instead of sugar? Does it make a difference to the texture of the finished product? Are there any sort of things that are good or bad - e.g. cakes that involve creaming? I'm keen to make my baking a little healthier if possible!

salt and pepper
i was just experimenting with a tuna/potato mixture, on its own it was a bit plain, wasnt a lot better with pepper added. adding salt however really improved the taste and seemed to enhance the pepper. i now know how they make the tuna in the m & s tuna/cucumber roll taste nice, as it tasted just like this. i'm not sure…

Old spirits....
Not ghosts. Alcohol. We have a bottle of brandy, a bottle of vodka and a bottle of gin which have been sitting at the back of our alcohol cupboard for about 8 years since they were opened. So, what happens to opened bottles of spirits once they have been open for that long ... are they worth keeping for drinking? Or should…

Rice Cooker or Steamer ?
Not sure where to post this so please move if there is a more appropriate forum. My steamer finally died on me a few weeks ago and I am really missing it - the thing is I only ever used it to cook rice or veggies - it was rarely used to full capacity and tbh the one time I used 3 tiers I could just have easily squeezed…

Honey glazed ham problem, help
I was planning on having honey and mustard glazed roast ham tonight. It's the first time I've made it. Ham has been cooking in oven, have taken it out, cut off the skin and all was looking good so far. Went to the cupboard, found the mustard and sugar, but no honey. Have since discovered it has, over time been eaten by…
