House smells of Dog Wee but can't find it?
Aaaaaaaaaah! I'm fostering dogs for an animal charity - some of which are ex-breeders who have never known life in a home before and are not house trained. For the first few days/until I'm pretty sure they are house trained, they have the run of the kitchen and garden. However, we have had a couple of accidents on the…

Stoning Cherries
I bought somes cherries that were reduced in Sainsburys with the idea of eating them as I love cherries but thought it might be nicer to maybe put them in a cake. Are cherries quite easy to get the stone out of as I don't really want to spend loads of time trying to get the stone out and making a mess of the cherry? Also I…

Getting rid of the smell of vomit!!
Just thought I'd check the best recommendations for getting rid of the smell of vomit - my little girl was sick yesterday and I gave it all a clean up and have now steam cleaned the carpet. There is no stain, but definitely a smell that is lingering!! Our dog has taken to laying at that area of carpet now so we also have…

What's the Deal with MSG?
So I've run accross a couple of tantilising recipies lately which contain a falvouring ingredient i've previously never heard ofcall MSG (Monosodium glutamate). I was talking with a friend who works in a well known supermarket chain and she was telling me they dont stock it as it's a 'controversial' ingredient and has…

Hi, hope you helpful lot could point me in the right direction. I need some pure ammonia for cycling my fishtank but I am struggling to find it anywhere. Oil on bedlinen
Ok, this is fairly horrible, but it can't be helped... My boyfriend is a mechanic. Being a mechanic means working with a lot of engine oil, grease and other, really black, types of dirt. That's all fine. Every night when he comes home, he has a shower. He looks and smells pretty clean. The trouble is, I think this stuff…

Hi, apologies if I'm posting in the wrong forum? I have a Norfrost freezer, an old old version. The thermostat dial is confusing me.... Does anyone have one and if so could you advise whether 1, or 7, is the coldest setting? The freezer is not working properly and only half freezing things :( In fact, if anyone has a…

I just bought my first breadmaker!! A question....
Just wondered.......the recipe book I have uses butter, but I have used oil instead (weighed it out on the scales). Will this be ok? Probably should have checked before I started making it :o but my friend has one (different to mine) and hers uses oil. Can't wait to make pizza dough in it!

Another 'please can you make me some meals' thread!
Hi all, I've seen over and over on here you fantastic lot helping others to create 'something out of nothing' food wise. I have loads in the cupboards but I'm struggling for ideas!! low cal packed lunch (with microwave) ideas would be great too! Limitations: I'm on a diet so not too much bread/cheese/oil etc, we're both…

Fresh coriander - now what?
Having grown masses of coriander from seed, I'm now wondering what on earth I can do with it? I know I can freeze it, my problem is I have the grand total of two recipes(lamb, lime and coriander stir fry, and tomato and coriander soup) to use it with and nice though they are, I'm starting to get very bored. Suggestions for…

Sainsburys own brand Biological Washing powder.. as good as Ariel?
Just doing my shopping list at MySupermarket. Was going to buy a box of Ariel as it's on offer, but swap n save suggests the own brand basics, which is MUCH cheaper. Is is as good (bear in mind my 10 y.o. son who spills all sorts of stuff down his clothes)?

How much washing powder?
I have just got a new washing machine that uses about half the amount of water my old one used, about 50 litres instead of 95 litres. Shoud i be using only half as much powder per wash? i am concerned that it might not rinse out properly.
