Worrying over packed lunch for 4 year old veggie!
Hi all! I'm having a bit of a panic as DD1 starts school "full-time" on Monday, she will be having packed lunches and I want to make sure she has variety but she can be a fussy little one at times! She's veggie. When we make sandwiches at home, she's a bit of a one - she won't eat them if you put the filling in the…

cream cheese how to find?
I want to make a cheesecake but I think Philadelphia might make it too expensive ... no? What do I look for and where as a cheaper but just as good alternative to Philadelphia? Also I've noticed some recipes ask for double cream, some substitute condensed milk, some use both! Some don't use either. Is it good without the…

Not 'Tea at the Ritz' but 'Tea at the Kips'....
My DD's aged 8 & 10, decided to arrange an afternoon of tea and cakes for their grandma and aunties. They have sent invitations, which they hand made, and banners etc ready for tomorrow. They have even chose the background music (High School Musical music). I thought it would be nice to whip up some cream to serve with the…

Can you still get 'blue bags'? Plea from mum!
My mum has searched long & hard for somewhere to buy 'blue bags' that she used to put into laundry to keep the whites looking white, but she can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know if you can still get them please? She's just exhausted the ones we found in my Nan's cupboards when she passed on - quite a few years ago…

Tesco mackerel in lime/ginger/chili marinade
I bought a couple of these fillets from the fresh counter the other day and they were absolutely delicious. Only a couple of pence more than the standard fillets. Would anyone be able to let me know of a recipe for a marinade like this? I found it a little on the hot side so we can forget about the chili in favour of…

Canned new potatoes - why can't I fry them??
Hi all. I have been given a large can of new potatoes. To be honest, they don't look particularly appealing, so I thought I would slice and fry them. However, the side of the tin says they are not suitable for frying. Why would that be? I'm sure I've got memories of my mum doing exactly that on camping holidays.... Will…

Made way too many chocolate rice krispies cakes (I know, how can you have too many?!! :rotfl: But I might be sick if I eat anymore!) How long do you think they will last for?
