Storing Frozen Food

Sometimes I find when I freeze stew, chilli, or bolognaise type foods, it gets freezer burn very quickly, even in a Lock & Lock. It doesn't look very appetising, am I doing something wrong?

No. Don't confuse the whiteness and frosting with minute particles of ice of foods which contain quite a lot of water with freezer burn.
There is, in my view, one test of 'freezer burn' or not. Defrost, put in a pan and warm or defrost in the normal way. Does it look insipid or totally
dessicated and dried out, so much that you can't tell if it's rhubarb or minced beef? Does it smell bad? If you add a bit of chopped tomato, spice, worcs sauce etc - does it look, appear, taste bad - slimy?
No? Perhaps you are being over cautious and need to speak and show to a more experienced cook than yourself (no offence meant) Mum?0 -

Yes, I think I am being over cautious - you'd think I'd realise by now, been cooking since I was 10 years old, I'm 46 now :rotfl:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.
