Daily OS thread - Friday 12th September

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 12th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all!

Yes, it's thursday (well technically Friday) again so it means an early morning for me! Am sat eating a slice of bread made in my breadmaker for the very first time! I had the crust with a generous amount of butter on... yumyumyum. My OH is all proud of himself and calling himself a real baker now which is cute! He has just come in and gone to bed, so here I am again.

Haven't played with my energy monitor yet, that is for later on today, can't wait.

beth - just wanted to say I will keep you and your husband and family in my prayers and please do NOT stop 'waffling' on here if it helps, we are all happy to 'listen'.

elona - hope you poor daughter feels better soon
Grannybroon - congrats to your son on his engagement
Joannasmum - Best wishes to you and your DH.

*Big hugs* to anyone who needs one today and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating something.

P.S. Treacle just caught herself a moth.. Well, to be fair, she accidently stood on the poor thing as it rested next to her just as she stood up and stretched! She got its wing caught under her foot much to both our surprises and she managed to keep it still long enough to eat it! Guess all that expensive cat food just doesn't hit the spot like a nice moth!

    Hi everyone.

Lots of (((hugs))) to Beth's DH.

Beth, I've just read your last post on yesterday's thread. It's only the cod liver oil he should stop taking. My DH takes odourless garlic and the doctor said that and all the other oils were fine. He was taking it for joint problems - he gets pains in his shoulders - and the doctor recommended glucosamine with chondroitin which really helps with the pain. DH said that, as soon as he said he was taking cod liver oil, the doctor said 'that's whats making your cholesterol high'. So it's a simple thing to put right.

I hope your DH has had a good night. I'll copy and paste this and pm you now just in case you don't read the thread.

Morning. Day off for me. The weather is pretty good and the fishing boat will soon be warming up in the harbour for us at 8am. So hopefully I should bag a few fish for the freezer later.

Not much else to say really. It's fishing fishing fishing fishing today .

    Hi and welcome to Calleyw

N9EAV - that looks gorgeous - the place and the boat (not the idea of fishing!) Have a great day and I really hope it stays dry for you!

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, Beth's DH and the rest of the family, Essex-girl's Dad, Candygirl's Dad and Sammyjig's DH and all who want one.

    Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, today is going to be spent doing the rest of the paperwork, making some more soup in the Remoska using leftovers and things that are lurking in the bottom of the freezer - I'm trying to make soup most days because it's so easy to bung things in to cook whilst getting on with other things and it's so money-saving. The stew we had last night was lovely and we'll have the rest tomorrow night. Tonight dinner is spaghetti bolognese - I'm babysitting DGS and DGD this evening; they'll still be up when I get there so I won't bother taking my knitting with me because I won't get any done!

Well, it's not raining at the moment and the sky looks quite bright so I'm hoping we'll all get some decent weather today.

Anyway, off for another cuppa and then a shower.

    Will catch up later.

    Morning.....

N9eav, when I saw you had included a link, I got all excited. I thought it was going to show picture of you in your waders :D Looks like a good boat though, hope the Bessie Vee is a lucky boat and you stock your freezer up ;)

I've just waved off Mr Twit, he returned home last night, ditched his laundry and has now ventured off into deepest Yorkshire

Beth, I hope Ben is improving and that the doctors get his cholesterol reduced (((hugs)))
Celyn, what is your new avatar, Cyanide for Dr Jekyl  Miss Twit's chemistry topic at the moment is organic chemistry the prep questions appear to bear no resemblence to the text book.

Not sure if OH will be home tonight or not, so I'll get some steak out of the freezer just in case.
I managed to get some fleeces from Asda yesterday, they are lovely. Only thin, but for £1.77 for 122cm x 152cm quite a bargain.

Hugs to all the poorly OH's & kids out there and also to anyone who feels down or under the weather.
Love to all The Twit :grouphug:

*off to cheer my self up and find that photo of N9eav fishing that Aussie posted :D *

    Morning :hello:

N9eav I wish you wouldn't talk about Mevagissey, it's my favouritist place in the world and we can't make it there this year :(:D We had our eye on Christmas Cottage a few years ago but couldn't afford it.

What is it with OSer's OH's and hospitals at the mo? It's most unfair - it's like, people who make a real effort with their families health and food etc are the ones suffering (expect I'll be shot down in flames from non-OSers  but you know what I mean). I'm in and out of the house today but will keeping an eye on you all, hope everyone is OK.

Shopping day today, I hate it and see it as a waste of time  :D I'm going to hang around til the postman's been, hopefully my cheque will turn up today.

Nothing more to report except the people last night irritated me, maybe I was just tired but I couldn't get into what they saying, they just seemed to drone on and on. Bit like the voices on the old Snoopy cartoons :rotfl:

  • Morning all, just a quick one for now as laptop battery about to die & can't be bothered to go downstairs for the charger yet. Will do it when I make more tea.

Beth, hope you managed to get some sleep last night & that Ben had a good night too. Thinking of you both & hope today is much more positive for you.
N9eav, have a great day's fishing and THANK YOU whatatwit for the pic again :):)

Will catch up properly in a bit.

    Morning all,

Might be a quick post as DGS is watching George. :D Don't know if you get it over there but it's about this little monkey & he loves it. Had a few hours to myself this morning and I fixed up a top I bought years ago but didn't like the hemline. Much better now & I'll wear it next Saturday when I go to Bollywood show with DD at the Casino. :D Off to the club tonight. Taking DGS to get him use to eating *out* before we tackle the cruise.

Granny I forgot to wish engagement congrats earlier for your DS. I hope your future DIL is worthy of him. ;)
Whatawit You did like it didn't you. You have good taste. :D
janny Ouch. I won't type too loudly then.
moiliere Good luck with the paperwork. Horrible task. <hugs> :D

Well best get moving. Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
