Heart Shaped Cake tins

Hi

Just a quick post, I have done a search but just realised the time and I need to get on with my work :S

How do I measure a cake tin to find out the size? is it from top of the round bit of the heart to the bottom point, or is it from the point where the 'round bits' meet to the bottom point... oh trust me to be awkward with what shape I want my wedding cake :(

Hope you get what I mean. I did do a google search but it just brought up where i can buy heart shaped tins :(

Thanks
LB

  • Hi,

My Mum taught me that a 1 egg mixture of sponge (2oz of fat, sugar, SR flour & 1 egg) makes 1 pint of cake when cooked. I always round up if between!

Hope that makes sense & helps.
  • Well I sort of meant to find the diameter in inches...

So i can buy cake boards too as well as work out how much mixture i need :)

Why oh why did I not choose round / square

To work out the amount of mix required I do the same as cakemaker.

To work out what size of board you need, measure the diameter of the tin at it's widest point and go for a cake board slightly larger than that.
