Hello guys,
I have a fairly new pair of trainers, one of which has unfortunately worn to one side at the heel, I assume this is down to how i walk
the other is fine. My qu is what can i do to prolong there life, as apart from this they're in good nick and were quite costly when bought?

I have noticed that trainers don`t seem to last very long these days and I suspect that`s the way they are made.
The faster they wear out the faster you have to pay again.
Have you noticed how thick the soles are,but after a month`s use they develop a hole or two because they are HOLLOW.
Another rip-off.0 -
Has anyone successfully re-soled a pair of old trainers?
My ancient but very comfortable trainer style slip ons have a hole the size of a 2p piece in one of the soles. Before I finally ditch them is it possible to repair by just sticking a new sole on?
There are no shoe repairers near to me.0 -
Yes, it's possible. My husband did this with a favourite pair of trainers he uses for messy jobs. He bought a little pack with a sole and some glue from Woolies (I think). This was about a year ago and they are still going strong.0

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for mending/patching up trainers where the inside heal has worn away. I have several pairs that this has happened too and they now rub and hurt, but are in too good a condition to just chuck away.
I've tried the heal grip sticky pads that you get but they are not enough to cover the worn bit.
Many thanksTrying to make a better life.... If you need me you'll find me at the allotment.0 -
In the past I have used thin carpet cut to size. Those insoles you can buy work to, just cut off as much as you need..
If the sole is honeycombed then filling the gaps with blu-tak helps before covering them.0 -
Ahhh thanks for that, but I mean the inside heal of the upper not the inside heal of the sole, but you have given me an idea about filling the hole with cheap insoles!Trying to make a better life.... If you need me you'll find me at the allotment.0

Not sure where to put repair articles...
Ever get the back of your heel worn out?
Buy new ones? -cobblers!
Old mousepad + staples (or sewing kit)...
Easy. Shame I didn't think of this before spending £100 on outdoors type ones that should last longer...Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker0 -
Hi Jago
I've merged this with an older thread on repairing trainer heels. Good luck
ZipA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
