Can I bake spuds really slowly?
Well, can I? Normally I'd just whack 'em in for about 1½ hours at about 220°C. I'm doing about 8 medium spuds. If I wanted them to be ready for about half-time in the England v Wales game this afternoon (about 4.40pm), could I put them in now at a much lower temperature? If so, how low? I'm just wondering…

Shabby Chic Thread?
I have been hovering on these boards for quite some time now and have realised that a lot of people have very similar tastes to mine! Now do we have a thread dedicated to all things shabby chic? Think traditional english style mixed with new england, Cath Kidston, Laura Ashley and reusing/repainting old furniture to fit in…

Weaning a baby with cow's milk intolerance.
My dgd2 (Caitlin) has an intolerance for cow's milk and has been on the soya milk prescribed by the GP for a few weeks now. I know that nowadays the advice is not to wean a baby until almost 6 mths old - but she is getting to the stage where she is taking an interest in what everybody else is eating. Obviously this means…

Savoury treats for lunchboxes/freezer?
My freezer is looking pretty good for sweet luncbox/snack things - cakes, muffins etc; but the savoury side is lacking with just cheese scones in there. What sort of savoury bits do you cook up for storing? And does anyone have a recipe for marmite biscuits? I am addicted to the ones from Fudge's, but at £1.50 a go I…

Fish pie - any nice recipes?
I have a cod fillet (fresh, big), two random white fish fillets (frozen, snmall, old, no idea what they are), veg, potatoes and ability to make white sauce. Do I just poach the fish, stick it in the sauce, stick mash on top and bake? Been promising h2b fish pie for weeks and am finally going to do it!

Fish Pie?
Hi all, I'm a complete convert to the OS forum, though until now I've been lurking. I made some of the baked bean lasagnes yesterday and froze them, using up 3 ageing cans in my cupboard! Now, I have about 4 tins of tuna I want to use up, and a bag of potatoes. I remember in the past when I was a poor student I often used…

Roasting in Stoneware?
I want to do my first roast chicken today or tomorrow, but I'm trying not to spend any more money than I absolutely have to, so I'd rather not have to buy a roasting tin if I can use something I already have... I have a Le Creuset 32cm stoneware tray (not the cast iron version) - can I use that to roast in? Would I have to…
