it's a good idea to freeze it in slices/small portions/the amount you need for a recipe, so you don't have to defrost a whole block/tub which you might not want to use all of at once, also small quantities defrost faster0

HI, I freeze both Butter and Margarine, I have had no problems with either of them. I freeze both the tubs and the packets of marg, still have some from November in the deep freeze. The packets of butter are just popped into a carrier bag and into the freezer. I usually buy 10 packets of butter, that lasts us about 1 month. Oh i nearly forgot, i buy both salted and unsalted. Hope thats of some use.20p savers club

I want to freeze butter in smallish amounts, so I've always got an emergency supply for unexpected guests at the B&B. I don't want to be caught short.
So first of all, can butter be frozen? I prefer unsalted myself, but get semi-salted for guests. Would the presence of salt change the texture/longevity?
TIA

Nope I freeze it and it turns out fine when defrosted (and mine is salted).I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
