Roasting in Stoneware?

I want to do my first roast chicken today or tomorrow, but I'm trying not to spend any more money than I absolutely have to, so I'd rather not have to buy a roasting tin if I can use something I already have...

I have a Le Creuset 32cm stoneware tray (not the cast iron version) - can I use that to roast in? Would I have to adjust the cooking time at all?

I haven't got any Le Creuset (I can but dream) but I often use a pyrex or ceramic dish to roast a chicken, I don't think you have to use a tin.

  • you can do it no problem, but you can't put it on the cooker top to make gravy with which you can do with a metal pan.

Thank you for your responses - it's got about 45 minutes to go and it's looking good so far :)

If it's any help, I haven't paid full price for any of my LC stuff. I think the one I'm using for the chicken was about 12.99 from TK Maxx. :)
