Ham Hock - Week and a half old
I was in the butchers the weekend before last and bought a bacon hock, because it was a quid! Plans of pea and ham soup were on my mind. Anyway, stuck it in the back of the fridge, ate the saussages, bacon, chicken and lamb and forgot about the hock. Do you think it will still be ok? I think it was cooked when I bought it.

Fish previously frozen at sea...
When buying fresh fish at Tesco's fish counter I always check if the fish has already been frozen. There's usually a label stuck in the fish saying 'previously frozen at sea and therefore unsuitable for home freezing' or words to that effect. Basically you shouldn't refreeze fish (or anything) that has already been frozen…

Have you inspired/converted someone to the "OS ways and means Act" 2008?
Our family motto for 2008 is to "Make it great!", not just for ourselves but for those who's lives we touch on a regular basis. I live OS - have always lived OS - but sometimes, without any preaching or web forums or broadcasting, we can touch the lives of others simply through example. I don't walk about in my daily life…

Yeast storage
I've looked in the mega index collection and can't find the answer to my question, so here goes. I can only really find yeast for my BM in sachets. As I only make medium loaves, I only use 1tsp of yeast at a time. I end up with half sachets that I put in the fridge and they manage to spill all over my shelves. I was…

Tomato Pasta Sauces
I know there is loads of advice about this on this site and people like the Lidl one for 55p, but me and my lot just didn't like it that much. When it was cold, I thought it tasted like pizza topping, but heated up, it just wasn't as nice as the Dolmio Stir Ins I usually buy for them. Tonight or tomorrow I am going to…

Well last night we had a bunch of spuds left over from the night before that i wanted to use up so this is what I made: "Brasede kartofler" - it's the danish equivalent i guess of bubble and squeak.
