"cook" pasta

I'm making tuna pasta bake tonight but I havent got a hob to cook the pasta first (well i'm using a camping stove but thats ran out of gas lol), is there anyway I could "cook" the pasta, as the recipe I follow says to use cooked pasta.

Thanks QP.

i have used pasta bake sauces (pre-OS) where you add the sauce to uncooked pasta and add water and shove in the oven to cook. Could you try making a veyr watery sauce and cooking in the oven - perhaps even adding the tuna etc after the pasta is cooked?

I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this response :p
  • you can cook it if you have a kettle and put boiling water on it and leave it for AGES. else just put in extra water and leave it in the oven longer as per the post above.

I did some in a big bowl in the microwave when we were in our temporary kitchen. I was using the 2 burner gas stove that was used for camping when I was a child, reckon it is 38 or 39 years old! Boy I'm glad to be back with a kitchen.

    Thanks for your help:D .
I think what I'll do is take the advice from you both what i'll do is soak pasta hot water for a while, then when I add the soup (as i dont use the pasta sauces) water it down a bit more lower the temp in the oven and cook it slower.
Would that work? sorry to sound stupid :o

Can't you do it in a thermos flask filled with boiling water? I'm sure I've read that on here somewhere.

I'd like to bet that your microwave book has timings and settings for cooking pasta. All mine have.

In fact you can make the whole thing in the microwave, honest, 'cos I've done it before now.

    :)

i would just put it in boiling water to soften then add to your mix and add an extra cup of water to your sauce to help it to cook

  • How long are you going to be without a kitchen for? I went months in the same position and found that between my combi microwave and a Remoska I could do most things. I was lucky that I also had an electric steamer and a slow cooker. It might be worth seeing if your local freecycle can help if you don't have them. They saved my sanity as if you had something cooking in the microwave you had to wait for that to finish to cook the veggies etc but having the steamer co-ordinated me once more.
You have my sympathies - it isn't fun cooking with no cooker
