slow cooker or le creuset in oven
Should I get a slow cooker? I like slow cooked food, but was thinking that a Le Creuset (which I already own) in a very low oven would be better, because the pan is so much thicker. What temperature can you slow cook at in an oven?

Fats
Hello! I thought I would start a thread about fat. (including oil) What is everyone's favourite? I like sesame oil. It varies a lot in price, if you buy it in the supermarket it's sold in tiny bottles for quite a lot of money, but when I've bought it in the Chinese supermarket it comes in a nice big bottle (750ml) for…

disintegrating brisket?!.....
I did brisket in the slow cooker today :) 1.2kg on high for almost an hour then low for 7 hours. I'd put in some stock to start with, but about half way through thought it was probably too wet, so took out virtually all of it. it was very tender, but completly fell apart when I tried to carve / slice it :( we ended up with…

Sainsbury's offers on till receipts
Sainsburys are reconfiguring their tills at the moment and I'm really cross to discover all offers now show only at the end of the till receipt. Considering their poor record on tills being up-to-date with current offers (in my experience), it makes it extremely difficult to match up goods purchased to the discounts.…

Using up wool
The thread below about knitting has inspired me to take it up again. Returning to my long neglected knitting basket I found 150g of soft DK Rowan wool that I'd really like to use. It's a lovely soft moss colour. Does anyone have any ideas or patterns that would use this up usefully? DS3 is 4 so I could possibly make a hat…

cast iron pans
My pans are two casseroles different sizes are twenty fours years old. I noticed this week that the lining seems a little rusty. Does it mean that this is end of their life? If so what do I do with them do I just put them in the bin? I know they don't owe me anything but they have been part of my life! Sad I know, seen me…
