Hi all
I would love to find a cheap alternative to individual pie dishes to do little savoury pies for my sisters birthday.
Anyone have any fantastic ideas as to what I could use?
Would I be able to cook pies in glass ramekin dishes?
Would love to hear your ideas? Thanks

How small do you want the pies to be?
What about using a muffin tin, the deep ones would be about the size of a ramekin.
Or, I'm sure i've seen foil fluted cake cases, like the mince pie ones.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
probably about 10cm in diameter?

Ah, yes, I think I know the size you mean.
I have seen, in the past, as part of a non-stick set, some little shallow tins, that sort of size.
I don't know when you need them for, but are there any car boots near you. People clearing out cupboards might have something.
Or, invest in one from a shop, and then bake the pastry cases blind and do mini quiches.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
thanks for your help - having a look on ebay and going to head off to car boot.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30

You could try going to Lidl - they have some in there as part of their offers dated 27 September and they're only 1.990

If you are anywhere near an Ikea, I got some lovely ceramic deep 10cm dishes which are perfect for pies for 50p each, however I know that going to Ikea just for pie dishes might be a bit much - I love Ikea, but generally lose the will to live after about half an hour in there IYKWIM;)Jane

I bought almost all of mine from boot sales, making sure that if possible they were pyrex ones , or those brown eathenware ones .I have a really good stack of them as I like to batch cook and freeze pies and smaller portions of things as I live alone .I don't think I have paid more than about 20 p for any I have found at a boot sale ,sometimes you can get them in a charity shop as well.0
