I've decided to make easter eggs this year as gifts, The kids have a plaster mold machine which whizzes round and spreads plaster inside a mold (we have small eggs, medium sized eggs and bunny's) I gathered that melted chocolate would work in the same way as the plaster but would like to know how to lubricate the mold to…

help needed for sewing machine dunce
I've just bought a sewing machine - never been near one in my life before. I'm not planning on any complicated dressmaking, just basic hemming, cushion covers and things. The machine is a Lidl special, which comes with a very basic guide indeed. Can anyone point me in the general direction of a simple guide as to when you…

Pulses quick questions thread.
I'm going to start the ball rolling on this with the following question. Does anyone buy pulses in bulk? Otherwise, have you found a very cheap way of stocking up on them? Thanks. Edit: It might be easier for other people to spot that a new question has been asked if you give your post a title by choosing the 'go advanced'…

Just tried to find today's thread to post this and just not there! DGS1 and me off to Ireland on Friday to visit DS1 for a…

What's your non OS guilty secret?
As an alternative to the brilliant thread on OS things that only you do I've been wondering if everyone is 100% OS all the time. Do any of you have guilty corner cutting secrets? Mine are; 1. After years of failing miserably I've give up making pastry and buy the frozen stuff. 2. I buy ready meals if they are yellow…

Why is it easier ....
Why is it easier to clean and declutter someone elses house than it is your own? I've just come back from helping to clear out elderly disabled MILs house to my own tip which i am completely incapable of keeping under control. I was quite happy to spend several hours binning and scrubbing round at someone elses, but I just…

Food Seasonings
I have some recipes which I think will lend themselves well to doubling up, but because I haven't done them before I want to do a half quantity (i.e. one meal) to make sure we like them. No point in having 3 lots of a meal that we hate in the freezer. My problem is that if the recipe calls for 1t of chilli powder should I…

Any "No-Cook" recipes for Guides/Brownies?
Hi there all you great Old Stylers! I used to run a Guide Company, and now the young Guider who took over from me, has come back with a problem. The Church hall where they meet has no kitchen. When I ran Guides, everytime we wanted to cook they came to my house, but as she lives with mum, this isn't convenient! Soooo has…

Ammonia
Thanks to those who responded about Bicarb earlier - I made my first trip to Wilkinson as a result - what a place - I bought loads of fab stuff including Stardrops which I'm going to try. But one of the things I've seen on the posts is reference to using Ammonia to clean - yet when I asked in Wilkinson's today they told me…
