I'm cooking a stew this afternoon (3hs @ 160 degrees) and was wondering if you have any ideas what else can go in there with it, seems a waste not to fill the oven
Thanks
Thanks

We normally just use a slow cooker to cook stew. Its one of those dishes that seem to rich that you dont really need anything with it apart from the dumplings and breadOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0

How about cooking a rice puddding.
Jam tarts, biscuits or maybe a cake?
..but bear in mind if you are going to open and close the oven door you may need to increase the cooking time for the stew.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Hi Twig
You could cook baked potatoes along side it?
Or, if you were just thinking of something which could cook at the same time at the same temp, try a cake? Here's an easy (really easy!) one that cooks at abut that temp:
2 cups SR flour
1 cup sugar (ever so slightly less than full)
1 cup fruit (mixed dried, raisens, whatever)
1 cup milk
couple of teaspoons of ground mixed spice, ginger, cinnamon, whatever you have
Essentially, hoy all the dry ingredients into a bowl, add the milk, mix til its all combined. Grease a loaf tin, whack the mix in and bung it in the oven. Done when a knive comes out clean.
Makes a lovely fruit loaf kinda thing. Oh, and its not american cups, I use a coffee mug. Doesn't matter as long as you use the same mug for each ingredient IYSWIM!!
(can you tell i'm not one for gently creaming the butter and sugar together de dah de dah!!!)

Hi, we usually do a rice pudding, baked apples, crumble, stewed fruit - they'll take a long cook at low temp.
Aternatively - flapjacks, biscuits, or such like.
