Flour mites Need Storage Idea
We keep getting flour mites in our flour and despite my best efforts to thwart the little blighters they keep coming back. I cant stand the little sods and if I see so much as one crawling around the flour gets thrown out. I know you can stick the flour in the freezer for a day to kill em, but I cant stand the thought…

A round carrot cake ?
Last week I was given a slice of the most delicious carrot cake I have ever had - very squishy with much too much creamy topping on - yum. I certainly shouldn't have eaten it, but I did. I yearn to make one myself, and have just looked in the OS recipe index. There is one in there but it seems to be made in a loaf tin (ie…

Biscuits
There was a feature on Breakfast TV this morning about old style brands, they quoted Smash, Pacers, Amazin' Raisins and Spangles. - is the title of Richard Mabey's book on stuff you can pick/find for yourself out in the countryside or even in your garden. Spaghetti Squash, Butternut squash and other squashes
In order to improve on my dismal cooking skills I've decided to order a veggie box which was delivered today. This is not the cheapest way to buy vegetables but I thought, hey, it's healthy and I've got to cook it now! There are some lovely things in there and I am looking forward to my first 'proper' meal tomorrow. Now my…
