Today my OH bought a chicken in red wine dish that was in the reduced counter for 50p with a use by date of today, I had already arranged dinner this evening, would it be ok to eat tomorrow? What would you do?

Is it suitable for freezing? If it is I would freeze it, if it isn't and it were me I would use it tomorrow if it looks and smells ok.
Just don't tell him it's out of date lol0 -
or cook it tonight FOR tomorrow. As long as it's cooked it'll be fine:beer:0

I try as much as possible to get these sorts of bargins and soon as I get them freeze them.I`ve found with most things with the use by date fine to eat the day after.I`ve had yoghurts the next day and have been fine.If it`s not walking to the bin by it`s self or has it`s own fur coat it`s usually fine.Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0

Many are under the impression that the use-by date is a fixed, immovable date arrived at by some scientific process, but this is not the case.
Its purpose is not so much to protect consumers' health, as to shield the food industry from possible complaints - at least that is how it's used.
Before the use-by dates were introduced in 1979, we all had to trust our own judgement. If I were you - providing it looks and smells okay - I'd enjoy your bargain meal tomorrow.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
