- is the title of Richard Mabey's book on stuff you can pick/find for yourself out in the countryside or even in your garden.
I've seen recent threads on blackberrying and as it's Autumn now I thought I would flag up this one, although I'm sure it's a book which will be well-known on here.
It mentions all the different berries, nuts, mushrooms, roots etc which are out there for free, although it's a bit dated now.
Not really one for the townies, sorry!
Maybe this post should be on the freebies board?!

Hi LizEstelle,
We have a couple of older threads on similar subjects that might interest you too:
Foraging - Natures Food
Free Food Challenge
Cheap food if you aren't squeamish
It's also worth checking out the Foraging forum on www.downsizer.net

Thanks for that.
In case anyone's interested, there are a couple of other field guides which I know of:
'Wild Food' by Roger Phillips
''Food from the Wild' by Ian Burrows
I'm sure they've been mentioned elsewhere so I'll leave it at that.0
