I've just done some shopping in Netto (not for the first time) and got some great bargains, huge packs of chicken breast and a beef joint reduced hugely :money: and lots of branded things like Marmite cheaper than my normal supermarket but my god, the other customers were sooooooooooo rude!!! Whilst I was waiting in…

I tried coke which removed 50% and all the toilet cleaning chemical tablets ect. I work with the elderly and one of my clients suggested I put my used tea bags down the loo and leave them for…

supermarket own brands
I thought it'd be interesting to start a thread about supermarkets own brand products, who actually makes them and is there any difference between them and the branded ones that are made in the same place. Someone I know used to work at foxes biscuits and he told me they make all marks and Spencer’s own brand biscuits and…

It's hubbies birthday on Tuesday and I would usually make a cake because the kids are still young enough to enjoy the whole birthday cake thing. Help! Think I've broke my Mam's sewing machine!
I've borrowed my Mam's sewing machine to make new covers for the dogs beds! All I'm doing is sewing some old curtains into big pillowcases. My sewing machine skills consist of being able to sew straight lines, refil the spool and that's about it :o Anyway, there was already some white thread on the spool, so I've been…

Hens going cheap.
After a visit from Mr Fox our egg production had dropped and we needed some new hens. Not wanting to pay out too much in case Mr Fox returned I asked around and found a free range egg supplier who was renewing his flock. So for 50p a bird I had some of his old 15month old birds. These are about the same age as the ones Mr…

Make Yer Own Rice Crispies
I was trying to make coffee out of rice when I discovered this by accident. If you put a load of rice in an oven tray and toast it in the oven, hey presto, rice crispies. You can grind these up (or grind Kellogg's rice crispies up) and make coffee in the usual way, providing you don't mind your coffee tasting of rice…

Sticky Washing Line?
Hi One of my washing lines is really sticky. It has a plastic covering. Is near to trees (which could be a cause) BUT it isn't the nearest line to the trees. The line nearest the trees is fine. Any ideas on what it could be and more importantly what I can use to clean it. I tried Stardrops and thought that had worked but…
