Sticky Washing Line?
Southpaw
Hi
One of my washing lines is really sticky.
It has a plastic covering. Is near to trees (which could be a cause) BUT it isn't the nearest line to the trees. The line nearest the trees is fine.
Any ideas on what it could be and more importantly what I can use to clean it.
I tried Stardrops and thought that had worked but this morning its just as sticky as normal (the whole length too!)
Thanks in advance.

Hi, SP,
It's always possible that the plastic covering is degrading in the heat and sunlight. Are the two lines identical, and bought at the same time? Are they both subjected to the same amount of sunlight?

I clean my washing line with Stardrops and a microfibre cloth, if that doesn't work I suspect Penelope Penguin is right and your washing line is melting! We don't seem to cope very well with extremes of temperature do we? Makes you wonder how they manage in really hot countries!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Just wring a cloth out in your dishwater and run it along the line. Or try vinegar. My grannie cleaned her washing line with a cloth every time she hung the clothes out.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

If you can't fix it, I've got one of these and it's brilliant:

You just pull the line out when you need it, and it reels away when you've finished. It keeps the line clean, and it's also out the way when there's children playing in the garden. Here I go again on my own....0
