How do you store spring onions?
They seem to go off on me really quickly and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have wasted money on these by not using the whole bunch when I have bought it and the next time I come to use it, they have all gone brown. I get so annoyed with myself whenever I throw food out though I have become a lot better than I…

How much do you spend on food?
How much do you spend on food for one person each week? The reason I'm curious is that there's a thread on the Debt Free Wannabee forum 'Confused, concerned and not sure what to do', which I've made a contribution to, which contains posts from people who say they spend £12.50 or £8.00 weekly on food for one person. One…

Cleaning mouldy bath mat
Our bath mat has got mouldy spots on it. YUCK! I've tried cleaning it with the Mould remover spray, although it says it's not for rubber (just thought I'd give it a go), but it only turned it a shade lighter, and it's still there. Soaked it in bleach, still no good. Any ideas, anyone? Thanks.

Taking freshly made juice to work
I recently treated myself to a decent juicer and have been enjoying juices all weekend. However I'd like to take them to work but I know they don't last that long and oxidise and will go brown, losing all their nutrients etc. Would they be ok if I put them in a chilled flask with some ice and a squeeze of lemon to…

Need a knitting pattern for xmas tree shaped egg-cup covers
Hello all. A few years ago I had a knitting pattern for a christmas tree shaped egg-cup cover. It had little red knitted baubles on the ends of the 'branches'. Does anyone have a pattern for them? I don't think I've described it very well! I've still got the egg-cosy and would take a picture for all to see but being a…

Wilkinson's Selling Wine and Beermaking Equipment
I was sad that companies like Boots or Wilkinson's aren't stocking equipment for making your own wine and beer. After all, if you buy a bottle of wine or a six-pack of beer, much of the price that you pay is tax. The good news is that Wilkinson's are stocking this equipment again, and that includes concentrates for making…

Fruit cake with no flour pleeeese!
I had a recipe when i was a teenager in the 80's, Patrick Anthony did it on Look east. There was no flour and no eggs, and i think no fat either! I was a vegan at the time. Now I'm an 'eat anything that moves except stilton' omnivore, but I have a friend who cant eat flour. Party on Tues and I want to make a cake.
