Salami ...........

Options
My son bought me back a whole salami from Italy. What can I do with it?
It weighs about 3/4lb. I cut into it tonight so have to use it now.
Any ideas please.

Listen to me, I am Italian.

Don't worry if you cut into it. Put cling film tightly around the cut portion and then the lot in the fridge. It will keep for quite a while but not forever. Just have frequent salami sandwiches.

Even if you slice more than you plan to use, do the same with the slices.

As long as you exclude as much air as possible, it will keep.

    Bon appetit!

Hi what kind of salami is it?you could use it on pizza, or you could cut it out in small pieces and add it to mash potatoes add small pieces of mozzarella to it and pipe it on an oven tray .It's really good.Or you could just use it for sandwiches.enjoy:xmassign:

don't forget to slice it thinly and have it with cheese and biscuits mmmmm

or cut into chunks and mix with a nice salad, add some feta or other cheese and it's a little piece of heaven :snow_grin

  • I slice whole salami up (I have one of those electric slicing machines) and freeze it, then defrost some as and when I need it. I have no idea if this is OK or not but I'm not dead yet.

I add chopped chunks of salami to a spanish omlette -along with cooked potato, chopped tomatoes and various other bits and pieces. It's lovely!

You could use it to enrichen any beef dishes (my ma does this). I love it in chopped chunks in beef casserole (sp?) and chilli con carne (not authentic but delish). Or make some Tapas. Here is an interesting recipe from the BBC - Salami Tarts !

My DH does yummy salami and cheese on toast as a snack.

Nice on toast, but especially nice on warm ciabatta - spread a layer of tomato puree, arrange your salami and grated cheese on top of that, drizzle with olive oil and a tiny sprinkle of tabasco and bung under the grill.

    Delish!!
