Our bath mat has got mouldy spots on it. YUCK!
I've tried cleaning it with the Mould remover spray, although it says it's not for rubber (just thought I'd give it a go), but it only turned it a shade lighter, and it's still there.
Soaked it in bleach, still no good.
Any ideas, anyone? Thanks.

Bicarbonate of soda or vinegar. Failing that buy another one from Poundland?2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Hiya,
There's a Stain Devil especially for mould which you ought to be able to find in most supermarkets, but you could indeed try vinegar first (somewhere out of sight) which is quite effective.

I was wondering Itlmiles5, do you leave your shower mat in the bath all the time?
It might help to prevent mould in future if you remove the mat when it's not in use. Laying the mat over the side of the bath still won't help the air to circulate and prevent mould so you could copy our solution.
I bought some cheap white plastic pipe and two elbows are fixed into each end of the pipe. This is placed across the bath (when not in use) and the shower mat hangs over the top to drain and air.
Of course if you have a shower cubicle (rather than a shower over the bath) my suggestion is as useful as a chocolate fire-guard.:oI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the 'I wanna' and 'In my home' and Health & Beauty'' boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. use biological washing powder, a small scoop and warm water leave to soak for an hour then rub with a cloth the mould will come right off, this also works with your shower curtain!!
i use tesco value w/p at about 60p a box and its very good, just wear gloves if you have sensitive skin :j0 -
you could also try milton sterilising fluid to see if that gives any results?0

Probably cheaper and less chemically hazardous to buy a new one lol!0

Thank you for all your tips everyone. I think I will try the biological washing powder, as I use that for my laundry anyway. If that doesn't work, or if there're still spots left, I'll try vinegar.
I keep buying bath mats, but thought it's prob wasteful to keep throwing the old ones away.
I agree that I need to air it better. I normally shake it after use, then stick it to the tiles to hang up, but I've got a little pail in the bath for used nappies, so perhaps next time, I'll drape it over the pail first to dry it.0 -
