Has anyone got any good ideas of recipes for teenagers to get involved with the cooking? Am in the middle of putting together a healthy pack for my mum to encourage her to eat more healthily and wanted to include some recipes that my brother would be able to help with. Unfortunately my mind has gone blank! He's nearly 15…

Stain removal - help wanted
Hubby cut himself shaving and got blood on his white shirt collar, sprayed it with Vanish (we didn't read the instructions! and left it to dry). The sprayed area has now gone yellow and will not come clean. I have sprayed it again and washed it straight away, used ACE bleach and even left it soaking in bleach and water but…

Help. I know there are loads of threads of breadmaking but I could do with an answer pretty sharpish. I have made the dough (wholemeal) in my bm and I have shaped them and they are supposed to be proving ready to bake. It says they should double in size in approx 25 mins. I have turned the oven on low and they are on the…

Nope don't mean of the fruit variety. But do you cherry pick the best deals from each supermarket. I do, last night I did a double supermarket run. To Asda first of all as there are couple of items I only ever get there. And then on Tescos to get the Bogofs and use some club card vouchers. And today did a local run to…

Milk and Money...
It's a month now since I started putting in place a little method of saving some money from all the milk I buy. I read about this somewhere and I think it was on this forum, but I can't stomach the search, so I'll say right now I am not the originator of this idea. My thanks go to whoever is. I live alone but go through a…

The Humble Crumb...cookery book with uses for breadcrumbs
I found this interesting little cookery book, the Humble Crumb by Elizabeth Jones. In the introduction she says that she felt guilty throwing away the odd crust or slice when there are so many starving people so she set about finding uses for all the breadcrumbs that she was producing. The book has 200 + recipes from…

Less wet towels
In the winter I get everyone to "dry" themselves with a face flannell first-then, when they dry themselves with a towel it is not left soaking wet. In the winter, this saves a lot of washing and drying. My mother taught me this as we had neither washer nor dryer. :j
