Fuel Duty
When fuel duty was reduced a couple of months ago it seemed to make no difference to what I was paying. In fact, prices seemed to continue to rise. I suspect that the petrol companies just pocketed the money. It seems to be an impossible thing to monitor. Therefore we should do everything to stop any of the new PM…

Any Peugeot Expert (old model) owners?
Hi all, After a cheap van. While I could spend £6,000 on a van, I don't really want to. Most vans in the Transit / Vivaro area are ex-builders vans which has been thrashed. Expensive, with high mileage. So, thought about getting a caddy-style van. The Peugeot Expert 1.9 keeps popping its head up as a solid, reliable,…

Deposit contribution
I ordered a new car last September, in the agreed deal was a £1500 deposit contribution from Hyundai. My car is finally built and in the country after a lengthy wait however my dealer is claiming that Hyundai won’t honour the £1500 deposit contribution as it’s been over six months since the car was ordered. The dealer has…

Volvo V50 additive tank replacement
An Urgent Engine fault notice came up when I last intended to drive my car. A mechanic has diagnosed that the additive fuel tank is cracked and empty so has to be replaced so that the DPF can regenerate. Cost of a replacement from Volvo is almost £800 plus fitting! The car is 2008 but has only done about 84000 miles. I…

Secret to getting a truly smear-free finish on glass?!
I've tried household glass cleaners, and 'specialised' car windscreen cleaning products. Always with new clean cloths. But the inside of the screen still develops a type of fog or misting at times, even in this hot weather, and noticeable smears when the sun hits it.Anyone got this nailed?!Thanks

Hit and run while at red light
Hi, just looking for advice. I was waiting at a red light and a transit van hit me from behind before the light when green. After getting over the shock, the lights were green and the van turned into the next lane and sped off. My partner managed to get the number plate so I've reported it to the police. I also had my 5…

Roof bars without roof rails
Hi all, I have a 2021 Passat saloon (71 plate) without roof rails. It's a company car so I did not have a choice. I would like to fit roof bars for a roof box. Any advice on what product? Are roof bars always made for a specific car or is there a universal product for any car without rails?

ULEZ help
Hopefully this is ok to post here. My husband and I drove down to London this week from the north west. We’ve done this once before and are aware of the ULEZ charge. I chose a route on google maps to avoid the ULEZ but unfortunately the was an issue with maps and it took us the wrong way and into the ULEZ. We got off the…

Can anyone recommend a car rental company?
Hi all Need a car for a couple of days. I checked Enterprise and it was near £400 to hire a Focus type car for 2 days. I checked Skyscanner and got much cheaper options but had to pick the car up from Central London. Can anyone recommend what's the best way to get a cheap car rental?

Supermarket fuel prices
We are in a country where fuel prices are just as much dictated by the big four supermarkets as much as other factors. I travel in my job quite a lot, and all over see independent garages selling diesel 10p or more less than the local Tesco. How, can the supermarkets justify this. Martin, you should be gathering these…

EML on Astra
Mine and wife cars both got Serviced and MOT at a local garage and a few weeks later the amber EML came on on both cars round about the same time. Could the garage have made a mistake with the oil or something like that. Thanks.

Damaged a garage fuel pump
After a bit of advice... About 6 weeks ago we (a diving club) took a club owned boat down to the coast. One of the members used his own private 4x4 to tow the trailer. I was a passenger in the car. We stopped at a fuel station and, due to the length of car+trailer used the hgv pump to put some diesel in his car. As we left…

Car insurance (cheapest)
To get cheaper insurance I can put myself as in full/part time education. At the moment I am an apprentice is this allowed as putting myself as the profession I am going into makes it almost £100 more expensive but as an apprentice I am still technically in education?

Accident management companies like Auxillis - BEWARE!
My wife was involved in a minor collision 9 months ago, which caused a very small amount of cosmetic damage to my car. She had stopped in a local narrow road to enable a car coming in the other direction to pass at low speed. The other car scraped the rear right hand corner of my car as it passed. Details were exchanged…

Tyre pressure leak
One of my wheels, that was recently refurbished, seems to a have a slow leak, around 1.5 psi a day. What's the best way to diagnose where it's coming from? I've seen videos of people spraying soapy water on and around the valve stem and around the rim, will this show up the leak if it's so slow as mine? I have TPMS valves…

Fiesta 2008 Cam Belt Change
Hi All, I've just got myself a 2008 Fiesta, it's done 60,000 miles and feels really nice to drive. However, the car came with limited history. Apparently I bought it from the previous owners grandson who was asked to sell it when his grandfather died. They didn't find the car documents when they cleared the house so he…

Accident - who's fault
If you're parked in a one way street, a car has passed you and is nearly 4 car lengths in front before pull out, but then they stop and reverse at speed after you've started pulling out because the car in front of them is reversing. You try and reverse back into the bay to get out of their way but they still reverse and…

PCP, HP, loan, who is best to speak to?
Moving companies shortly and struggling to find who is best to speak to on this sort of matter. Back history is existing company provides a Tesla model 3 for a pool car and me to use (I pay BIK and take it home). I’m currently a director through an EMI scheme with a single share although this is being sold back as a bad…

Pothole damage!
Hi folks, so a few weeks ago, I hit a pothole which caused damage to my nearside front tyre. Knowing I potentially had a claim, and after the tyre centre agreed the nature of the damage was impact, and stated this on my receipt, I decided to attempt a claim. I went on to the LA website, and filled in their standard form…

Car insurance renewal
I think i know the answer to this, but double checking. I scratched a parked car while driving a few months ago, and was at fault of course. The lady had a company car and it was fixed directly via them, they didn't claim via my insurance. However, they did notify my insurer so it's showing as a notification even though…
