New Car mid insurance term - should I switch or stick?
Hi all, Looking for advice. I bought my first car in December and paid for a year's insurance outright. Unfortunately since I've had problems with it and need to sell, buying a new car which will (hopefully) be more reliable. The cost of my insurance in December was 1140, and with my new car being a 1.6 diesel, its roughly…

Weekly email - D/Licence photocard incorrect info
I renewed my over 70s d/licence online in January and have a new photocard licence with an expiry date against code 4b of my birthday in 2025. The latest email indicates that the date against code 4b is the date the photo on the card is valid to, this advise is certainly incorrect in my case. I went online to change my…

New car delivered but........
......in the wrong colour! Just looking for a bit of general advice really. Phoned last week by dealer and told our new car (ordered several months ago) had arrived and was ready to be collected. They went over the details of the car on the phone and it became clear they had ordered the wrong colour. They recognised the…

Parking in Paris for a week
An upcoming trip gives me cause to want to leave my car in Paris for just over a week, at the end of July to beginning of August. I would rather leave it in one of those covered underground (or multistorey) car parks if possible. I was wondering if anybody knows the best place to book it online? I obviously want to avoid…

DVLA - Tax paid via DD
Hope this is not a stupid question. I'm paying for the tax on my motorhome monthly via direct debit. I have now sold the motorhome. Will the DVLA automatically stop the direct debit as they will receive the log book tear off bit with the details on or do I need to contact them separately? Thanks for any help with this.

Issues at the car wash
Saw a thread yesterday about car washing with MrEskimo and Karen0252? hot day and some of the trim on my new Mercedes convertible looks like it’s damaged by something they sprayed. Any chance someone else has seen this? Know how to fix it? I think the trim is plastic or brushed metal?? The normal paintwork is fine.

End of Vehicle Lease Charge - Tried to Deduct Funds without Notification
I reached the end of the vehicle lease period and handed the vehicle back. The contracted mileage was 52,500 and the vehicle was returned with below 40,000 miles. On one side of the vehicle there were 2 small impressions, less than 10mm and nothing that I would call outside of general wear and tear. I received an email to…

Third party fault accident- My car written off
Hello all, I'm hoping some of you can advise as my mind is agog with info as this has never happened to me before. Over the weekend, another driver reversed quickly out of a customer car park (accessed via pavement) onto a main road and drove into me as I was travelling down this main road. I was only a few minutes from…

Blocking car on private land - criminal offence?
I own a small piece of land just big enough to park two vehicles one in front of the other, it was originally a drive leading to a garage behind my house (access from the public road via a dropped kerb), but the garage is no longer there and there is just a fence across the end between the drive and my back garden. Usually…

Any Ford Transit Connect owners?
Hi all, So in short, we’re looking for a van, so we can camp in the back, put the bikes in, etc. I’d thought about the 2002-2013 model Ford Transit Connect, long wheel base high top variant… as it seemed like a good middle ground where I could do everything I wanted, but still fit under most (if not all) height barriers.…

Who is paying for free EV charging
At a few train stations near to me, there is free EV charging supplied by pod-point (one of the many home charger suppliers). For the cost of the normal car parking fee, I can leave my car all day and it charges for free. Clearly popular as I have to monitor the app to see when there is a charger free. Today I paid £3 to…

PCP to get better price, then cancelling
Apologies if this has been asked previously, I have tried to search old posts but couldn't seem to find a clear answer. I'm looking at buying a new car and have the cash saved up to pay for it outright. However the manufacturer/dealer is offering a discount to purchase it via PCP. Can I buy the car using PCP to get the…

Used car came with different wheels to those advertised
Bought a car that should have come with 18" wheels as new, and was advertised by the dealer as having them. Only figured out on the journey home when checking tyre pressures that it had 17" wheels. I've contacted the dealer who hasn't responded. The dealer is an AA approved one so I'll raise a complaint with them. What are…
