I renewed my over 70s d/licence online in January and have a new photocard licence with an expiry date against code 4b of my birthday in 2025.

The latest email indicates that the date against code 4b is the date the photo on the card is valid to, this advise is certainly incorrect in my case.

I went online to change my address as i have just moved but the system wouldn't let me do so, saying that the photo itself is only valid until September and needs to be renewed, which was confirmed in a phone call to DVLA this morning. The Code 4b is the date up to which i have entitlement to drive and the date the photocard itself is valid to, which is not necessarily the actual photo expiry date....

As an over 70 I don't have to pay providing I send a form D1 with a new photograph and licence to DVLA.

Unless the article was specifically aimed at over 70s ... the "errors" you've identified are not actually errors. On my (not over 70) photocard licence 4b is indeed the photocard expiry date ... the entitlement dates are shown on the other side under 10 (start) and 11 (expiry).

On mine, the entitlements under 11 are exactly the same date as in 4b...whilst the article isn't specifically aimed at over 70s, neither does it make any distinction as to what age it refers to.

It would seem that either over 70s are treated differently in regard to the details shown, or there is a glitch in the DVLA's systems (which i'm quite prepared to accept is very likely).

But the categories on the front of the driving licence hasn't changed in that time.
